This is a special moment on my present housesit. The cat and dog are both affectionate towards me. The dog has totally bonded and follows me everywhere. At bedtime the cat heads for its own kingsize in the Master bedroom. In the morning the cat joins us once I’m awake. The cat and dog rarely fight. The dog, deep down , is jealous of my five minutes giving the cat attention, so I have to pet both ! The cat gets special me time when it’s dark and the lights are off. I can surreptitiously stroke the cat without the dog realizing. The cat, in the dark, loses all inhibitions and nuzzles me in the face and really getting close. It’s a very treasured moment.. it’s not all about the dog but shhh.. We don’t want to stir sleeping dogs!
If we are on the sofa and I pet the cat too long Winnie will start a low growl which can end in a snap! She will then charge the cat off the sofa so she can enjoy my undivided attention! Happy families!
