First night of pet sit & not happy

Hi Happy Deb
Thanks for your view on my situation. I tried to sleep on the couch last night but I was so uncomfortable.
The HO already had everything packed when we arrived so no last minute dash. She spent about 45 minutes showing us around and talking to us so she wasn’t stuck for time.
All her bags were at the front door waiting for the taxi.
I guess I’m just polite when anyone comes to my home the first thing I do is offer them a drink especially when they have been travelling for a few hours.
It wasn’t just me who couldn’t sleep in the bed
My husband was also so uncomfortable he didn’t sleep either.
We couldn’t of used the toilets or the shower as it was filthy.
I won’t be putting myself in a position that is bad for myself or my husband’s health.
I’m just relieved I didn’t bring our 12 year old grandson along.
The cat was adorable so that’s a bonus
Have a good day

It may help to put the couch cushions on the bed and wrap them in comforter(s)?
A temporary solution, but may give you a little more comfort?

Ok, I can hear you’re really tired and frustrated. Hopefully there’s some bleach you can use in the bathroom for both the shower and toilet. Bleach is my best friend!

A friend of ours sister in law has fibromyalgia and uses a blow up mattress on the bed when she visits. Not ideal but it might help. Also, suggestions re turning the mattress, putting it on the floor (if there’s room) are reasonable suggestions. Good luck with your sit. Another thought, put the cushions from the sofa onto the floor and make your bed there. I’ve done it and it’s fine.

Honestly it just sounds like a pretty disappointing, underwhelming sit @Crazydoglady The back pain & lack of sleep is just the unwanted icing on the proverbial cake. The choices are ultimately, either grizz it through 8 days with a sleep plan; tell the HO it’s too grim and can they find another sitter; let your husband stay and you go. Honest reviews all round at the end whatever happens and only you can decide which is best. Am also interested if you’re their first sitter as @Silversitters has asked? If not, were there red flags :triangular_flag_on_post: looking back? If yes, then lesson learnt on asking more questions and for better pics I guess. #sendingthesleepfairies

You say the cat WAS adorable - past tense - does this mean you’ve left the sit? If so, did member services support your decision?

If not mentioned, is there anywhere where you can rent rollaway beds that can be delivered.

@Crazydoglady maybe try the hotel tonight app for last minute discount rooms. ?

@Crazydoglady You mention that you didn’t bring your grandson - does that mean that there is also a single bed(s) available? Can you try that ?

We sat for a lovely host with a very uncomfortable bed. Our solution: We bought a sleeping pad. You can find a double one for both of you. They cost about $60 – less than a night at a hotel. We found we did need to reinflate it daily, but that’s not hard – there’s a foot pedal on most of them. You can find them online easily but also at stores like Walmarts. You could also buy a mattress topper, but we liked the pad because you can deflate it and squeeze it into a small bag so it’s easy to pack.
