@Snowbird your $1.56 sounds pretty good. That was a “normal” price for certain corners of NB, where it is, last I heard, $1.70ish now, and it’s $1.86 on PEI. 
Guess we can’t complain too much; the Australian & European prices are atrocious!
There is always Facetime or Zoom, sorry you can’t be with your family on your birthday. That is the hard part of current times 
In Christchurch, an unmanned station near us was around $3.40 today

Although I appreciate the sentiment, as usual we are not ‘all in it together’. As per usual, the very rich and super-wealthy are relatively cushioned, and, of course, it is the poorest in our societies that are hit far harder by rising food costs, fuel costs etc.
I saw a guy doing laps around the village yesterday in his McClaren supercar, whilst I drive at a steady 40mph to my months-waited-for NHS dental appointment.
Oh @Rhe yes that’s a given, but when we say we are all in it together, that does really mean all those feeling the pain, meaning we all feel it together. Just trying to keep things non political on the forum else the topic gets closed. It’s a sensitive one for we that do feel it, as you do 
Hi Ziggy, yeah, I hear you. I think I just needed to get fully caffeinated! Springtime is coming to England, and I’m off to a wonderful riverside sit in Twickenham tomorrow (driving at a steady 55mph!).

@Smiley when I was in the UK last year I had to keep reminding myself of your petrol price. The price looked the same as Australia, just viewing the numbers at the pump, but of course with a £ sign instead of a $ sign. Considering the AUD/GBP exchange rate that meant your fuel was double the price. Yikes!
Yes, but you should see the amazing wages here in the UK….. oh, actually, wait a minute! 
In the US, gas is equivalent to around $1 per litre. So, though Americans complain about gas prices, it is still very low, in my opinion.
Hopefully one day there’ll be solar cars with zero emissions.

It’s occurred to me to wonder if people are seeing a noticeable increase in cancelled sits already (either by Hosts or Sitters), as I’ve suddenly begun receiving a somewhat remarkable uptick in unsolicited invites this past week — and not all of them from past hosts, or hosts who are local to me.
I also wonder @Jenny @Mark whether that’s anything that THS run reports on and may have some insight into…?
@MerryPuppins I have been wondering the same thing re cancellations. I haven’t seen any listings stating such but that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening, I would put my money on it is. Also I have been receiving far more unsolicited invitations this past week as well, so I think that does say something about the situation and a sign that cancellations are happening or sitters just aren’t presently applying. The number of good sits currently available is quite outstanding from what I see
Today I asked a host to cancel our upcoming sit! I can’t imagine facing the tsa problems at the airport, and the driving in the rented car pretty far to the sit isn’t exactly ideal…after a flight cross country… anyways, it’s two weeks out, and I promised not to leave her high and dry… I’ll go if they don’t get a replacement! But it’s not so tempting to travel, even to ski… yeah, it’s cancel time.
@sandydandy that was good of you to offer to still sit if they are unsuccessful finding another sitter. I hope for both your sakes it works out positively.
