This is what I just got for a new listing…ie. First time listing. Seems different to what I’ve been seeing. Do hosts now get a choice to turn off some of those settings like how long the pets can be left. And guests allowed?
Is the time pets can be left under responsibilities rather than sit essentials?
Nope. I looked in that one. Although it is in others. So there must be a choice not to add that now? Or theres a glitch?
I applied for a sit yesterday and time left alone wasn’t in the listing. The owner replied to me within minutes and when I asked about that and explained why, she was unaware of it and planned to review the listing today. They’ve had sitters before but I’m not clear whether it used to be shown. She answered the questions I had in her reply. If I get more details later today I’ll add an update here.
There’s definitely some changes happening. But of course, we’ll be the last to know.
@Brightlight I just spoke with the owner from the sit I applied for yesterday. When they set up their listing, the section on how long the pet can be left alone was not there. Neither was the section about whether you could have guests. In fact, she only knew of the expanded Amenities section when a previous sitter asked about the bed size. Even when she just went back into the listing now, she couldn’t find the section about how long the pet could be left alone. She said she’ll go back in and look around. It shouldn’t be this complex.
@Jenny Please pass along my suggestion to the team that these new sections should be set as mandatory (especially beds in Amenities). The site is doing a disservice to hosts as many sitters will pass them by when essential information isn’t shown.
Hi @Brightlight
Twitcher is correct, the info about how long pets can be left alone is covered in the "Responsibilities’ section.
You’re right that this info was moved (in 2025).
EDIT: editing post to credit twitcher for sharing the same info.
@Mark_B and the rest of my query?
Completing the ‘how long can pets be left alone’ info is still mandatory. ![]()
I’ve had a quick look at a couple of listings (on a browser, using a Mac) and those sections are appearing as expected.
@Mark_B I doubt they’re mandatory, at least not for those who are not new members. I’ve added to a post over the past few days where I was coaching an owner, based on me asking why they hadn’t completed that section (I applied for the sit). They had no idea it was there. It took them some time before they even found the section. Now they’ve completed it, but it certainly did not appear as mandatory for their recent listing.
