I’ve had a problem. Place I’m on sit is invested with little insects. Emergency contact had no idea she was emergency contact. Pet owners not responding. THS Just reiterated what I already knew and could read on website. I’m stuck for another 6 days. Showering twice a day. Staying in the bedroom mostly as it’s the sofa that seems to be crawling. Washing my clothes everyday.
I think you meant to create this as a new post? Not a reply
@Nafisa34 I’ve started a new topic for you, hopefully our members will be able to provide you with some advice and support.
I’ll double check the correspondence you’ve had with Membership Services so far.
You’re within your rights to leave and to lodge a member dispute with THS, because terms for exchanges include a habitable home. If it’s crawling with insects, photograph and report the conditions to THS.
If you have a backup plan, use it. Everyone should have a fallback, whether as a sitter or host. That helps protect you from rotten hosts / sits / sitters. And even great sits can be canceled or cut short if there’s an emergency.
For your current situation, maybe check out Host a Sister groups if you’re a woman and don’t have a fallback, because members will often offer to share housing in a pinch. You can find them on Facebook, for instance.
You can leave the sit re. the terms and have the emergency contact take over.
I would think fleas or bed bugs. Be careful so you don’t take with you «souvenirs» when you leave.
If fleas, the pets might have them. If bed bugs, they usually come out at night and/ or when a victim is around. I believe fleas are «easier» in the sense that pet fleas probably can’t procreate from human blood although they bite.
Can you provide more details so we can help. Type of insect? Where in the world?
How can I send pictures
Hi @Nafisa34
If you wanted to send photos as evidence of ongoing concerns, you’d need to pop them over to support@trustedhousesitters.com - I have also asked the team if they can take another look at the correspondence you’ve already sent us.
Jenny
Just a quick note to say that if you’re sharing photos of the insects here in this thread, please make sure they don’t show the interior of the home in any recognisable way - I’m assuming any photos of small creatures would need to be fairly close up anyway!
Thanks for considering OP might want to share photos in the thread @Garfield
