Exactly!!! Where is the honesty from the HOs here if we need to just take it and let it go?
One thing is sure now, I am not trusting this reviews again.
As a cat owner not leaving cats enough food when leaving earlier than agreed (for what ever reason) would be something I’d mention in the review. Even without automtic feeder you can easily provide food for 24 hours. I don’t now how many hours earlier the sitter left in this case.
And then that litterbox That’s no where nearly enough litter. Not having enough litter can lead to some serious health issues. A litterbox as empty as that is also way harder to keep clean
So, if those were my cats, eventhough they would be well on my return, I wouldn’t say they were well cared for.
“The funny thing is that even if I leave a honest review, she still can say that I lie”
Probably what the other homeowners worried about too. Be the one to say something.
Please do leave extra litter so the sitter doesn’t have to go to the store.
I thought that too, but further down OP notes that there was plenty of litter. The sitter chose not to use it for some reason. Poor kitties.
@Shafofo
“but we gave her a 200$ Walmart card for the pets and we found out she was not even buying treats and other product we use for them”
It still sounds like she wanted the sitter to go to the store instead of being stocked up. Maybe it was a very long sit and they don’t have a place to store stuff.
But yes , add more litter!
@Bella77
But you want other HOs to write honest reviews.
The sitter could have ordered online if the litter ran out, no need to go to a store. I agree that the HO should have enough supplies for the length of the sit. Maybe this HO did have the supplies but left the (generous) gift card in case of emergencies.
@Lassie
Yes, that is very likely.
HO suggest sitter kept the gift card and didn’t use it on the pets.
So to avoid the risk of this happening, leave things very stocked up.
Only because the HO had this experience.
I think THS sitters would use the card for the pets, as intended and this is a one off and not the norm.
Nothin’ like poo pics in the mornin’
I’ve arrived to two sits where the litter box looked exactly like that!
I agree this is not good enough and hopefully your review reflects an honest factual description rather than an emotional one.
What I’m interesting in hearing is
Why were you dishonest?
I think there are many HO have a nice interview and then decline others without interviewing them. I think if HO did interview all candidates, they might notice things and make different choices.
They might. They might also notice that some sitters will withdraw if a host takes longer than they’d like.
It sounds like this sitter had to leave early and hurriedly due to an incoming tropical storm. Is that correct?
Perhaps she didn’t want to expose herself to the risk of being caught in the aftermath of a storm with the various uncertainties that brings with regard to comfort and safety at someone else’s property and return travel logistics?
Maybe she couldn’t risk delaying her return home due to responsibilities there?
Now if she just cut and run without communicating anything to you that’s not really acceptable but I have a feeling there’s more to this story than you are sharing.
When you were aware of the tropical storm did you reach out to the sitter and offer any additional advice or assistance? Did you offer to change your travel plans and return home early so that they wouldn’t be caught by the storm?
I’m not sure it’s the responsibility of sitters to stay at the property during natural disasters…. Perhaps they didn’t feel fully supported by you. Who knows her reasoning?
@Bella77 Thank you for the extra information .
A sitter should not leave the sit a day early , unless there are extenuating circumstances (which could include a hurricane /tropical storm / wild fire or evacuation warning ) but even in this emergency situation they should also discuss & agree the pet care arrangements with the owner ( where there is time to do so ).
What was the confirmed end date of the sit ?
If an owner lives in a location prone to this type of weather it would be best to discuss with the sitter what they should do in this situation prior to the sit starting .
THS don’t remove or change reviews but can investigate and remove a sitter if they abandoned pets ( where there are no extenuating circumstances)
If you wish THS to investigate this sitter you can raise a member dispute - you will need to include evidence - like screenshots of the messages where she told you she was leaving a day earlier than the sit end date and photos of the litter tray etc . Try to be concise in your complaint so that THS understands what you want them to investigate.
The main issues (extracted from your posts here ) are that
• sitter left the day before the sit end date without your agreement.
• The sitter did not make sure that the pets had sufficient litter before leaving .
You need to provide evidence of your claim - these can be screenshots of the messages when your sitter informed you that she would be leaving the day before the sit end date.
Include a screenshot of the weather forecast for that day - showing if there were any hurricane / tropical storm warnings . You can state that you believe she left a day early to get to her next sit which was in x location . Include only facts you can prove and not emotions .
The sitter will be asked for their side of the story and they will also be able to submit evidence ( like the messages between the two of you and the weather forecast showing if there was a topical storm forecast on that day)

Title :Member Dispute
Please report back to the forum how you get on .
Yes I agree now that OP has provided more information & photos .
I was replying to the first post which talked only of sitter leaving because of a tropical storm & not leaving extra supplies incase owner was delayed but OP has now clarified with more information.
Re Tropical storm
A tropical storm sounds traumatic. There are a lot of factors which could influence peoples decisions when faced with weather like this
Is the person from that area? Are they used to dealing with that type of weather? Are they resilient, well organised, prone to panic?
From my experience people with no or very little knowledge of severe weather react very differently from a person that has faced tropical storms or hurricanes. I know nothing about your sitter except what you have written. Did they panic and leave in a rush?
We left for 2 months, it would have been a little bit more than extra everything. This site is supposed to be about trust; the thing she socked the most because she was super secretive and showed untrusting issues to wards us: when we were the one more exposed
Yes, and I understand why they dont; I struggle with the same thoughts and dilemmas.
Yes, 2 months, we bought plenty of everything and the other PS returned the card back after the sitting with some money over. This was not the case.
We left money extra for all what she could need and more.
Thank you very much; you totally got my point.
This is really helpful and I will proceed with
