It’s so cute as I almost can guess where you are from. Same by the rule obvious, it’s see it do it. Maybe I’m wrong. This isn’t a paid service. But I love shoveling and mowing lawns. But if you tell me to? Yea, no. I’ll likely do it anyway, as I’m a responsible adult. I’d not try to kill your plants but I’m not liable. Haha. But you’d be shocked how weird it’s become. I get requested (not a brag), have a call, connect, then a few experiences were not “cool” as one can say. Nor does it reflect always your sits! The sitter is not mutually respected. That is just one of the problems with this app. But I’m biting my fixing it all lip
BRILLIIANT! Absolutely agree with this comment. This is sooo needed.
Hi I am new to TH and had a few questions is this the right spot to ask.
Hi and welcome @AnnP ! You might ask what you like on forum, in the topic that seems right - or you can start your own topic. It is a very helpful community of sitters and hosts - I’m sure everyone will do their best to help you with what you would like to ask.
Welcome to the forum @AnnP
Trusted House Sitters (THS) don’t read or respond to this forum . Anyone can join their forum . Most of the members are owners and sitters who use the THS platform and will willingly answer questions based on their own experiences of using the platform/ house sitting.
However if your question needs an answer from THS directly - you can contact them by e-mailing support@trustedhousesitters.com.
I think everyone should do that. We had an owner turn against us suddenly and wrote a weird, lying two star cleaning review. We had given five stars despite some misgivings so I replied with a detailed rebuke including the fact that they had been watching us via an undisclosed camera and that they were not providing the full house access that their photos had advertised. Any experienced sitter reading that would never sit for her I hope.
Additionally she had the gall to book a local new sitter for one night shortly after our stay (presumably a friend) and tried to rehabilitate her reputation by saying that the sitter had been so delightful and left her house incredibly clean and spotless and that this sitter had even done her ironing. If anyone with half a brain saw that they’d see how fake it was.
I have sit coming up in a month and they offered the master. I said no. I will take the twin bed in guest room. I don’t want to have to clean a master and bath. I would rather take the twin, leave a smaller footprint. Staying in the master means you have to clean the master. If I stay in the twin guest room, I can close the master and leave it. I don’t care about the jet tub in this instance. I want simplicity of clean up. I am learning as I progress in this THS adventure.
We have a massive garden that could use a gardener but we would never ask or request the sitters to do anything with it. My pets and my home are the only thing I care about being looked after. If my housesitters WANTED to do some gardening that would be awesome but we would never ask. That’s not what it’s about for us
I’ve noticed 2 listings this morning which specify the cats cannot be left for more than 3-4 hours. At least a dog can be taken with you, so these cat sits would be even more restrictive! Do you think the pet parents never leave their home for more than 3-4 hours?
Imagine herding the cats every time they want to go out…take them with
I saw one not long ago that said the cat couldn’t be left for more than 2 hours. At first I thought maybe there was some health condition, but no, a healthy adult cat. I quickly scrolled on to the next listing.
technically yes. In order to get into the Hawai’i border from Australia, I had to say I was visiting friends. The border official made it clear that nothing that constitutes any kind of work (Free or Paid) is allowed by a foreigner in the US without a work visa. This includes house/pet-sitting. You have to say you’re staying at friend’s place and if you get interviewed, you have to show that you know the person and not mention Trusted House Sitters.
We don’t or they eat the house
