Sometimes I wonder why we bother!

Hi everyone. To all 57 members who provided insights and thoughts to the OP, thanks. In their post a few days ago the OP said they appreciate our input, but they had a lot to deal with at the moment (migraine, what to do about this potential sit, baby).

The Forum Team has DM’d the OP, and will stay in communication with them and provide an update to this topic when available. Until that time, this topic will be closed.

Thanks again everyone for your help, support and well wishes.

Here’s an update.

When OP posted about this sit they were considering, they were in the middle of a very hectic time. They were on a demanding sit, both partners work from home, one had been suffering from migraines, they have a baby to look after, and they had family visiting. Whew! That’s a lot to manage all at once.

The OP was overwhelmed with the number of replies they received, and they were grateful for everyone’s advice. They received the input and support they needed from our community, and it’s ok that they weren’t able to respond to questions right away. If I were in their shoes, I wouldn’t have been able to reply in the moment either.

Your thoughts and caring support were what the OP needed. Thank you. Sometimes we just don’t hear how a story plays out. That’s ok. Our words can help others during times of need, even if we don’t find out how the issue is resolved. Thank you for being there for them.

The sit they mentioned in the original post was not a THS sit. It was a referral from someone they had sat for in the past. The OP was going to ask the HO to post the sit on THS if they went forward with it.

The home owners had never used pet sitters before, so they didn’t know what to expect.
Once they talked through this issue with the OP, the HO offered to stay at a hotel that final night at their own cost. Due to other issues which surfaced during their conversation, the OP declined the sit.

As is so often said here in the Forum, when in doubt, having an honest, respectful conversation with the other party can make all the difference. It certainly did in this case.

Thank you again for being part of our helpful, supportive community.
