Nope, 14days now. It’s it would be a lovely sit, so a little reluctant to forget it. But will keep my options open and appy for others.
After 14 days I would assume that the homeowner either isn’t interested or doesn’t see securing a sitter as a priority. I would definitely write a follow up and ask them if they are still looking for someone.
Sometimes people who are not tech savvy will secure a sitter (either on THS or through some other avenue) and they won’t take down their listing. Sometimes they don’t realise the sitter needs to confirm on their end for the sit to be considered booked.
Obviously you can do whatever you want, but you might save yourself the few minutes a day that you think about doing this sit if you know it’s not going to happen.
How can I withdraw it? Am new to this and haven’t found anything to withdraw…
On the app, look under your application(s) and under “conversations” you’ll see “cancel” on the upper right.
You also can look in your inbox and click on the conversation you had with the host (your application). Then hit “Manage” and withdraw.
Ahhhh! Finally found it! Thank you so much Maggie!!
Here we go again. I applied for a sit 7 days ago with start date on Feb 27 yet not even a response. Two applicants. I messaged again and will withdraw by Monday if still nothing. It feels a little devaluing. It’s close by and only two nights. I applied for another a week ago for next weekend and she messaged the next day that the trip was cancelled yet the dates are still there. I promise I have a perfect rating so far. Lol.
I wouldn’t sweat it — just move on.
A few days ago, I saw that a host had read my application and didn’t reply, so I withdrew. It was a lakefront sit about 40 miles from city center. It gets crazy hot there in the summer, but I figured I’d suck it up and walk their dogs as needed, since it was less than a two-week sit. I don’t do long sits anyway.
Well, within hours of withdrawing, I saw what I consider a much better listing, in the city, within easy walking distance to loads of things and sitting two cats. I applied and that host immediately replied, saying they were very interested in having me sit. We’re now set to video chat. We’ve already exchanged friendly messages that showed that they’re prompt, transparent and considerate. Those are the kind of hosts I want to partner with. I was lucky that the first host didn’t reply promptly. ![]()
I agree with this. I withdrew my request as well. Better things to come usually like your experience. 🫶🏼
