I know you have gone through this kind of problems

Yes, mercy alone is rarely a good starting point. Hope you’ve found someone else

That’s very promising news @Misaki. I hope it works out.

It would be a very bad idea for you to look at application withdrawals as it’s entirely a sitters prerogative to change their mind on an uncommitted sit. Ditto a host. Think of those who ghost you as having dodged a bullet! Happy to hear you’ve found a new sitter. #allswellthatendswell

Just hire a local sitter. You were getting a free service and a cancellation with a month’s advance notice is hardly last minute.

I’m a sitter and had a similar experience. We confirmed the housesit, and even arranged for our flights. The deal was we would fly in and the HO would provide a car for us for the month we would housesit. The HO called and said there was a change in plans and another person was going and now she would need to take her car. At first I stressed. She said, we could cancel. After a pause-and I got my wits about me. I changed my position. This was not my issue, it was the HO’s issue. We were fulfilling our part of the deal. It was up to her to figure out how to fulfill her end. She rented a car for us. Not the kind she promised we would have (we called it a casket on wheels). It did get us from Point A to Point B. I realized she should never have called me and said a word. She should have just made the sit as agreed.

I’m glad it worked out for you in the end, it’s great a solution was found, but yes, the owners should have said nothing to you, and just kept to the original agreement, and made other transport plans for themselves.

It’s waaaay easier to keep to what is agreed, than potentially have a sitter feeling naturally less obligated once they are put in a sticky situation.
