Influencer? pictures?

Similar to us. No homeowner has refused us to post pics of their pets yet (90 sits) But we assure them there will be no identifying pics of the home.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a bit more info about Trusted Tailblazers and the importance of obtaining consent when creating content at a PP’s home, especially if their pet is featured.

Getting consent from the PP is required both in the TT guidelines and in the THS terms. Our advice to TT members is to always confirm this consent in writing, for example, via a text message.

There are multiple checkpoints in place to help ensure that consent is properly obtained: it’s included in the contract, the creative brief, and the influencer guidelines that are sent at the contract signing stage. This approach also applies to member stories shared on the blog.

I have asked the team if Trusted Tailblazers or other influencers have to disclose that they’re content creators when they apply for a sit, and I’ll pop back when I have more information. Either way, they are not allowed to post content without the PP’s consent to do so.

As I mentioned above, very naive to think it isn’t happening whether they are Tailblazers or not. With today’s technology it isn’t difficult to locate a property.

Whilst on the topic of privacy I am sure homeowners are told not to show distinguishing features of their properties, such as house names, numbers etc. That still happens and it always surprises me that they give away their exact location and the dates they hope to be away.

That’s a fair point @Twitcher - and if a PP saw this had happened (influencer or regular sitter) - we’d urge them to contact us so that we can help sort things out.

I thought I’d share our acceptable use policy, which covers the do and do not of the kind of features you’re talking about.

Maybe it is something that needs to be emphasised in the guidelines although I do wonder how many people actually read them.

It’s a good effort to have conditions in contracts etc., and perhaps it will make some people think twice about unauthorized photos. However, people gonna people, and just like it says you can’t have guests without the HO‘s permission, or can’t have internal cameras or third parties present, I am sure there will be instances of violation of terms. Good luck to TH with managing it – maybe some actual members will come on here and share their experiences for us non-influencers

It’s in the THS terms that HOs must not have indoor cameras or have third parties present. But as we see by many threads in the Forum, this happens way too often.

With all due respect @Jenny just because Trailblazer$$ term$ say a sitter must get permission doesn’t mean sitters read the terms or abide by them. Especially now that the action is incentivi$$ed.

So yes, a brilliant point raised by an earlier post suggesting that HOs inquire about this before confirming a sitter. I know as HOs we will begin to do so.

Great comments @Crosswords_and_puzzles . Unfortunately a minority of members see the forum. By the time homeowners discover their property and pets are all over social media the damage has been done.

Hi everyone,

@Crosswords_and_puzzles - I’m happy to pass that feedback over to the team to see if we’re able to make the guidelines more prominent.

I did want to say that as far as I’m aware, there hasn’t been a situation where someone’s pet or home has been shared without their consent over social media, and if that did happen, we would work with the PP and sitter/content creator to make sure that any unauthorised content was removed.

I understand why it might be a concern for some, but much like HO and sitters must trust each other in the exchange of quality pet care and a nice home to stay in, we have to trust that people (particularly content creators) are abiding by the rules they agreed to with regards to not sharing things without consent.

I’ve taken videos/photos of the house inadvertently when taking pet photos and sometimes I take photos on arrival of an area where I may have to move things and want to make sure I put things back in the right place before I leave. Those I then delete after the sit.

Whether an influencer or not, the sitter should have obtained permission before posting photos of the inside of the homeowner’s house.

My most hated word in the English language : influencer (a/k/a someonewho imagines themselves to be worthy of attention because… ?).

@ShulasMom agree 100% …because is not the same taking pictures for you…than taking pictures for the social media.

Folks- This falls under THS 101…. It’s 2025!

Are there cameras?
Do you allow visitors?
What is your travel itinerary?
Are the pets aggressive / possessive / resource guardian?
Can we posts photos on Social media?

There are many more but our 2 cents
