I am very much on the side of keeping everything as natural as possible but sadly we have so many ticks here that it would be impossible to screen them all out with inspection 
if I lived anywhere else I would be much more casual about it
Same, and we do a fair bit of hiking. Which is why we go ahead and use the medication. I do understand the viewpoint of those who are lower risk, either with temperature and/or lifestyle, foregoing it though.
