January 2026 poll of members

Home owners, Pet parents…just some of the titles that could be used to describe the same group of people using TrustedHousesitters.

How should THS refer to pet and home owners?

Hi @Mark_B - it has been 3 months since the poll was taken. Do you have anything to report?

I. Am. A. Pet. OWNER!

I guess one of those oft-mentioned yet enigmatic “teams” must be sitting on the data. And, as I wasn’t asked, I am a host (aware that many sitters are also home owners) and a pet owner. I am most definitely not a pet parent; never have been and never will be. And I don’t have fur babies

I would say that for dogs and indoor cats, we’re benevolent incarcerators. For outdoor cats, we’re simply co-inhabitors. Actually, more so - servants.

Thanks for your query, it has been forwarded to the support team.

Yep, I responded to this some time ago.

I find the term “pet parent” so juvenile and patronizing. Not a fan of those “cutsie” terms. I have had pets and I have borne children. I can tell you they have NOTHING in common. lol.

I prefer the term “host” or “homeowner” (even if it is a rented property)

Plus, some homes are without pets.

I’m with you on anthropomorphising. That word has been on a forum bingo card for years and at last I’ve had an opportunity to use it.

Great word, which I use as often as possible - as long as I can say it, that is!

That’s 2 new words I’ve learnt on this forum, anthro wotsit, and enshitiffication!

@anon52083843 no swearing on the forum please :joy:

We use ‘home hosts’ for the humans, and ‘pets’ for the pets

Hi @Twitcher

Thanks for your post.

At this time, I don’t have anything new to report. As @anon52083843 says, the result of the forum poll was shared internally and that data is with the right team.

Ref: Here is a link to the poll.

   something just flew over my head.

Thank you, could you take it off solved until we get a response from ‘the team’?

@anon52083843 just like anthropomorphising flew over mine?:joy:

Glad you’re awake.
