@Maggie8K, interesting statement.
@Mark_B, if able disclose then to what extext, if any, are THS staff mandated to use THS platform each year as pet parent and/or housesitter? Seems good to use own product.
Given the number of problems and unintended consequences they create, it’s clear they don’t use their own services. No one who’s decent (not necessarily even good) at making product decisions creates this many issues.
In parallel, even decent product people try to use their own products or services — without their employer requiring it — because it significantly helps their own career development. That means they can get better jobs and earn way more. But ambition, curiosity and intellectual horsepower combined with hard work are relatively rare. That’s why so few product people are in the highest demand. The ones who are talented make millions, if not more, in cash and equity.
As their employment package is so generous you would hope that they and their families and friends would take advantage.
∙ Premium TrustedHousesitters pet owner and sitter membership. This includes benefits like airport lounge passes, sit cancellation insurance, and home and contents insurance for sits for you
∙ X5 premium memberships for your friends and family each year
∙ Our team have an unlimited housesitting allowance, can work remotely from their sits, and are eligible to £500 per year towards travel costs
Can lead a horse to water, but ….
What would be even sadder is if the decision-makers and product folks were actually using their own services and still creating so many problems.
If it’s a perk of the employment package they probably use the lounge passes .
Edited as requested by the moderators because my first comment was flagged as offensive to THS staff.
I can’t speak for others, but when looking for a sit with multiple pets, I don’t need to know the specifics for EACH pet at that point. I need an idea of the overall work, any special stuff I might have to do like meds, and how long I can be out without returning to the house.
The new set up is clunky.
I also think a lot could be helped with prompts to home owners rather than forms.
As a homeowner I hate some of the new interface as it is divided up in a way that makes it almost impossible to comment on some stuff – like guest policy and have it appear where it should. It’s also very hard to edit or add stuff because of the way it’s divided. The listing now has many of the issues that the Welcome Guide does, but at least with the Welcome Guide, people can opt for alternatives. There is no alternative to a listing!
