Meet up for UK sits!

I really like the idea of meeting up. I travel a lot on my own and I’d love to share my experiences with other sitters. I sit intermittently, between other adventures and occasionally as a volunteer helper on Helpx. Right now I’m in Vielha Spain and my next sit is in Winchester from early September for 2 weeks. To date I’ve sat in the US (Montana and Colorado), Mexico, Germany, France and the UK. Approximately 30% of my sits are off the platform, for friends or people I’ve been recommended to. All of my sits to date have been great and without any dramas.

Hello
I have a ten day sit in St Albans, starting Monday.
I am up for meeting. I mainly like live music, and don’t drink, but if there is a decent pub with a band, I’m happy to go.

this made me smile wryly

“meet up for UK sits”, like American rock bands who proudly announce their UK Tour, when what they actually mean is England tour. But I see you do include Wales.

Don’t hate on me, just an observation, from a Scot, that people say UK when they actually mean England.

Well the Channel Islands are also ‘UK’ so even funnier tbh

@RedLassie Only last week I was explaining the difference between Great Britain, United Kingdom and The British Isles to a native of a Continental European Country. He admitted that in his and neighbouring countries, they would commonly use GB, UK and England interchangeably.

so frustrating.

How times have changed. I still clearly remember Brits getting offended when non-Brits would call the UK “England,” which was how most non-Brits referred to the whole country at the time.

Hi everyone! I’m on a dog sit in Cheltenham until Saturday, then will be in London until the following Thursday. If anyone’s available, I’d love to meet. @Shella_in_the_Forum

Unfortunately I’m taking up a dog / housesit position in Stow on Monday ( tomorrow) so it’s not so easy for me to meet up but there is an 801 bus service that runs pretty frequently between the two. I will need to settle the dog and see how it goes . I met up with Debbie on Friday last and we had a great time, coffee chat and joining a walking group for a short walk and lunch afterwards in Charlton Kings. Tonight (Sunday ) at 7.00 pm there’s a group that are solo sitters who join up for a zoom meeting hosted by Vanessa W. Highly recommend and maybe you can make arrangements for a meet on that ?

Best wishes,

I’ll be in the UK starting mid-Sept if anyone will be in the same areas and would like to meet up.

I’ll be in North Berwick for the last two weeks of Sept (I can meet in Edinburgh) and in Chester Oct 1 to Nov 12. Then I’ll be in London for Christmas and New Year’s.

Hi Mark. I’m glad you and Debbie were able to meet. She and I are going to meet for a walk on Thursday.

Is there a place along the 801 line where we might meet? Tues or Wed would work for me if so.

Yes, thanks for the heads up about the weekly solo call. I’m actually one of the original members. I just haven’t joined in the past several weeks as my husband has joined me on my travels, and we’ve been busy traveling around the UK. I’m glad to hear the group’s still going and will join again once my husband leaves in a few weeks.

Hi Karen the 801 stops at Bourton on the Water before Stow. Stow from Charlton Kings takes 45 mins on the bus after Stow the bus goes on to Moreton in Marsh and finally Chipping Norton. They are good places to explore too. I don’t have a car here as I’m resident in Spain and have one over there. I use the buses to get about. The 606 from Cheltenham takes one to Winchcombe and Chipping Camden and can be caught in Cheltenham near M and S food hall.

We will probably meet on the zoom at some point. There were some sitters from Bonnie Scotland and an Irish lady travelling in Germany yesterday.

Enjoy your stay!

Thanks for the suggestions. We just completed a week of walking inn-to-inn and visited all of those places.

See you on the Sun call in a few weeks.

Lovely Meet up in Stow for Rosie and Sable and their guardians. Vanessa came across through all the holiday traffic- much appreciated on International Dog Day too!
