I’m not a neat freak by any standard but as a sitter always leave a home spotless after a sit. I don’t quite understand how a homeowner cannot present a pic of a properly made bed when trying to attract a sitter. I’m currently looking for a sit in a specific city and just saw one but looking at the “unmade” bed put me right off applying. If a homeowner can’ make a bed to present a decent pic on their listing, I can’t imagine what the rest of the home will look like. How do other sitters feel about this?
I completely agree. There are sits I don’t apply for just because of that.
Exactly the same. Without any hesitation, I scroll to the next one.
Pass. But it’s good that they’re transparent and maybe that helps them find a match.
Interesting that you say that because I always think the same way when I see listings with lots of clutter and unmade bed. But at least I have a chance to say “pass.”
I just move on as there are other sits more appealing!
I feel the same about a messy bed. Also no photos with toilet seats up and dirty towels.
Unmade bed, clutter, pets sleeping on bed (each to their own) messy kitchen……pass
«Thank you for letting me know in advance».
I also agree about messy beds, also messy sofas
I agree, very off-putting, takes a few minutes to make a bed.
I completely agree! I find it baffling why some home pics show unmade beds, cluttered kitchen worktops, stuff on the floor, coats on backs of dining chairs etc.
Just this morning, I noticed a listing where the twin beds had simply a crumpled blanket on them - no other bedlinen - and a pillow minus pillowcase. The property looked nice enough and the pets too, but why would anyone want to apply for such a sit? And - more importantly - why would any host believe that would appeal to sitters?
You mean like that?
I saw this and was instantly shocked. The rest of the pictures are even worse…

Yep, I just don’t get it either. Either some people feel that they are doing sitters a favour and don’t need to make any effort to attract one, or they simply have no idea about aesthetics and presentation.
Either way, it’s an immediate ‘no’ from me.
Kitchen sinks filled with plates, toilet seats up, unmade beds…
I should add that in a moment of petty belligerence, I have written to some HOs, not to apply to their sit, but to offer some gentle, polite advice on their photos and posting!
(they never responded!)
So you’re not into this either?

Hahaha! Some people have just got no sense!
A no from me too. Even if it’s the only sit in my criteria, and the photos are messy, I won’t apply. I may not be correct, but to me it signals they won’t prepare the house for my arrival.
I’m amazed at HOs who show messy beds, cluttered kitchens, or limited descriptions… Some HOs just don’t realize its a 2 way agreement.
This reminds me when people are selling their property and do the same! It would definitely put me off doing a sit as it sets the scene for the rest of the home and lifestyle.
