New sitter Arriving

We are pretty remote and no deliveries or street vendors so supermarket would be her only choice and I think I’d prefer she didn’t need to think of food. She’s told me she eats pretty much anything, so I’m going to leave her things she can freeze if she doesn’t want them. And I’ve chickens that give two eggs a day :joy:
Thanks again

You are amazing! If you have the house manual completed, it might be nice to email it to the sitter ahead of the sit, so that she can read it and ask questions, if she has any.

Also it is nice to have a hard copy at your house on arrival.

Would love to sit for you if the stars ever align! We live in Oregon, USA, but we love, love, love Italy!

Yes, definitely complete the Welcome Guide (in your dashboard) and send it to the sitter now (which you can also do via the dashboard). The further ahead you send it, the more likely the two of you can work out any questions. If you have a printer, it’s nice to print out a hard copy too.

Make sure you complete your online welcome guide. There are specific areas for filling in vet information and such. It has a lot of helpful suggestions for details the sitter might want or need and they won’t have to message you while you’re traveling. I copy and paste the info into a Google doc to print for the house as the online version doesn’t print well.

Do what makes you comfortable and happy. It is evident that you are accustomed to making an environment for people to feel welcome.
Be yourself and don’t worry about what others do or think is normal.
You are wonderful, don’t be anything else.

Your apartments are incredible, well done.
Have a great holiday. I am certain your sitter will appreciate all your kindness and hospitality.

Hi @Shirls
You sound a very kind and generous lady. As a sitter we welcome a bottle of wine, a box of chocolates or similar, a card with nice words. Bread and milk are always nice too, to set us on.

On one of last sits the house owner stocked up the fridge with loads of expensive goodies, left me wine and champers, a gift voucher for a restaurant.

To be perfectly honest, even though I thought she was super kind, I found it completely overwhelming. I ate what would spoil, and froze the rest. I did not use the voucher.

Hi @Shirls - thanks for being so thoughtful for your sitter.
The one thing I wish homeowners would do for me is a one page schedule of the pets routine, which includes quantities of food and name and quantities of medication Start with morning bathroom time, first walk start time and duration, breakfast time and amount, next walk, last meal, meds, bedtime. Just listed down the page, printed, and stuck inside the dog food cupboard door.
Much easier than opening an app, or being told at the handover in a rush and not remembering it, or trying to find the right page of a long printed document,

That’s lovely & very considerate of you and whilst sitters don’t expect it I am sure it will be very much appreciated. To be treated as a genuine guest makes a massive difference in the exchange. We’ve been fortunate to have some smashing hosts & it makes for very happy sits.

Thanks, appreciated. I am worried, mainly worried that she’ll be worried😊 It must be daunting living in someone else’s house and being responsible for their furry babies. Thanks

Thanks, I’ve spoken to her on FaceTime and told her my wee dog has 17 acres of land and he’s running around all day with my bigger guard dog. He doesn’t need a walk as such, but likes going into town and seeing all his friends (the restaurant and cafe owners) He also doesn’t eat much and I’ve told her that. No schedule, he eats it or leaves it. Whatever he feels like that day

That’s good to hear. Thanks

Awww thanks. Good to hear I’m doing ok (so far)

Usually it is in the first place a joy to do it!

Wow @Shirls you’ve gone above and beyond with your generosity although I’m sure your sitter will appreciate everything you’ve done.
