We’re in Oxford, UK, good size house and near amenities. One dog, one cat.
Thinking of joining THS to take a week away in late August but is this enough notice? How likely are we to find someone?

Probably cutting it a bit fine to get your listing up and running in time. Many sitters are booked up well in advance.
Take a look at similar current listings in your area to give you an idea of competition.
Thanks for the quick reply
. We’ve decided to go to a dog friendly place this time and plan ahead next time for THS. Bw, Maria
Hey Maria
I see that you already got this trip sorted with another option. But one thing I wanted to say is that while a month out could be potentially too short of a time, sitters vary in how far ahead they book sits.
As a full-time sitter, who often books sits ‘out of order’ and has gaps in my schedule, sometimes dates don’t get filled until closer to that open time.
For example, I had a gap in my schedule that started August 17th for a little over two weeks and didn’t book a sit that covered that time until about a month out.
Also, you have many sitters who don’t plan as far ahead, don’t have set times when they are looking to sit and just may apply as they see things that appeal to them, sitters dealing with cancellations, etc…
So while a month is not a long lead time, I definitely wouldn’t consider it ‘short notice’ either.
A month is fine for a desirable sit with an in-place, well developed profile. Writing up a profile, posting dates, understanding the match process, sorting out photos and assembling a Welcome Guide is a bit much to do in a month. Possible but tight.

If your sit is family-friendly, you’ll have a great chance of attracting applicants in August. With the school holidays in full swing, many families are looking for house sits they can enjoy together, so welcoming families could significantly increase your chances of finding the ideal sitter.
