Other House Sit Sites

it’s 29 dollars and they have a double subscription option, but I don’t know if I would feel safe without a review system (and, though we have it here, it’s not always easy to select sitters). But maybe they are open tu suggestions and adding new features?

I wrote to Nomador to see if they had a double subscription option. Never received and answer.

That’s one way to get an idea of the company you are considering dealing with. Send them an email with a reasonable question and see what sort of response you get, if any.

I posted a message on the page on introduction of the booking fees about other Sit sites and this was removed and here… I see a whole page about other house sit sites! I can’t believe it
Anyway… Nomador is the second website I know better after THS. As most of you have already said, it’s a bit basic. I joined without paying the membership yet for approx one year. I was mostly interested in sittings in France, I do speak French, not fluently, but I can communicate.

During that year I saw many ads, very few have photographs of the accommodations, but despite that many sittings were quite popular with many positive reviews from the sitters. My guess is that people are more relaxed (perhaps like the old Couchsurfing kind of mentality?), probably not for me being a freak about checking on hygiene :face_with_monocle: After a year I didn’t find any convincing sitting, so instead of looking here and there, I just cancelled the account with Nomador.
Besides France, I am mostly looking for sittings in Ireland, and had looked at most sites mentioned here, but unfortunately they have very few sittings.

Let’s see if something will change in the future…

Has anyone here used House Sitters America? I came upon it, and the membership is only $49/year for sitters. But I would love to get an endorsement of it from people who have used it.

Hi @Snowbird I’m surprised this THS mess hasn’t hit mainstream media yet.

Did you post a link? That’s what gets those types of posts removed, it’s against the Forum Terms.

That’s good news, thank you! Just signed up.

Thank you! Found your profile on MMH and love it! Wish the US were still an option for us.

Checking out a YouTube video presentation they did (I don’t use FB), they seem to spend a lot of time describing their multi-level marketing paradigm for referral bonuses.

It would be great if there was something that talked more about the vision for the actual petsitting service…?

I did not @idocsteve

A few people asked info about other sit sites. I wrote a post saying that googling key word + key word… (I’m not quoting them or I’ll be banned again) they will get the results.

The post was cancelled, but here I find an open conversation with all the names of sittings sites written clear black on white. That’s hilarious

I also wanted to write about Nomador, the ads where I could potentially be interested and where I could contact the HOs had almost non existing images of their accommodations.

I contacted Support (which by they way the write both in French and English). I was encouraged to contact the HO and ask for the images. It would have been very much time consuming and considering that despite the lack of photos the number of applicants was increasing, I doubt that the HOs would have paid attention to me and satisfy my request.

That somehow didn’t motivate me to browse more sittings and/or apply.

Perhaps things have or will soon change, but as previously said I was registered for a year without sending a single application.

The moderators are working overtime this week.

In my experience, there are three names often mentioned.

Nomador (but mostly used in France).

The Guardian Tribe (a rising competitor, but for what I see in FB group that I joined there are already thousands of users ready to jump in)

Mind My House (already joined by many of my contacts or former sitters, so the user base is growing up quickly and it’s much much much cheaper, not considering the entrance 50% referral discount!)

As you said, there are people “ready to jump in” but the platform is not yet live. If they were smart they’d speed things up a bit.

They are. In a few days.

Absolutely everything crossed. I love words like community and people-driven. Also that they’re house sitters themselves.

Surely this influx must drive their plans forward with a huge amount of new energy. If I was them I’d be c*ck a hoop and seize the moment.

Wow that is SHOCKING. A reason to leave in itself. Was that always there I wonder?

Just for the heck of it I registered on the Mindmyhouse site and created a profile. For only $29 per year, I figured why not. If I get enough activity over the next year why pay more for THS.

Hi both,

I just wanted to confirm that anything posted in the Booking Fee topic that isn’t directly related to the Booking Fee would be moderated due to being off topic.

Thanks!
