Ok so this is the first time I’ve seen this product.
It is used for washing muddy paws when you bring the dog back from the countryside challenges.
What a great invention! Can’t wait to try it out.. maybe it will be something I put in my bag of tricks to be a tidy housesitter supremo!
Yes, I had this once at a sit. Thanks for reminding me about it.
Was the dog happy to have it used on it? I read one comment where the Border Collie preferred the dry towel method!
That was probably me. My border collie hates it but if your dog tolerates it, it really does work.
Pause for thoughts or thoughts for paws???
Yes it was
I bring this on my US sits. I don’t like the feeling on picking up poop with my hands with the bags.
I saw those muddy paw washers for sale online years ago and wish my dog would tolerate one, but he’s a rescue who’s very protective of his paws. It’s taken me years of desensitizing him to just petting his paws. He still won’t let us use harnesses that would require putting his paws through — he’ll freak out. We have to use ones that buckle around.
So we had a big power cut here in Spain yesterday. Madrid lost power from 12.30 pm till 21.00 hrs.
In the Newspaper today it showed a couple walking a dog using a flashlight/ torch in darkened Barcelona.
Got me thinking.. what is the best night time walking apparatus / power cut scenario stuff to buy?
So the show can go on….
My husband and I use lights like these — he walks our dog at night and the light helps him scare off and avoid deer, coyotes and such in our neighborhood. I have one of my own, which I use if needed on sits, for night walks. We like them, because they keep our hands free, last up to a week or slightly longer, and charge quickly. They sell them on Amazon and many other places.
Thanks so much! That’s really helpful. I know what I want for my birthday!
BTW, I don’t know whether you have a car or some other charging source in case of a power outage. Because obviously you’d need to charge a light like this, since you can’t just replace the battery, as with various other flashlights.
In case of emergency, we have a house generator, or could charge off our cars, or off our RV, which has solar panels.
We also have a portable solar charging station, called the Jackery. That’s a widely trusted brand among RV’ers in the U.S. I don’t know whether it sells abroad, but there are no doubt similar devices where you are. Here, they sell for a few hundred dollars or much more, depending on the model and charging capacity.
We’re especially into preparedness, because we’ve lived in areas with many trees. If there’s a storm, many people can end up without power and utility crews are stretched.
Just wow! So very helpful Maggie8K!
No surprise there!
Thanks so much!
When you are a serious pet sitter with awards you can rest on your .. laurels or an appropriate sofa!
I saw something similar with a ginger cat. Quite spooky
Ingenious but not 100% true. I’m afraid.
- Emissions were not 0 because the use of fuel and non rechargeable batteries was increased to keep going as many emergency supplies as possible.
- Electricity was indeed close to 0, ( in the peninsula, not the islands) but hospitals managed to complete operations and deal with emergencies with their emergency equipment and the cooperation of staff, who extended their shifts or voluntarily showed up to make up for those unable to get there.
- Regarding explanations. I admit we still don’t know what caused the general blackout but I prefer to wait until we can have reliable information rather than urge anyone to improvise speculative explanations. I also consider that it’s more urgent to work towards the restoration of total normality in all services.
I do hope that people sitting in Spain yesterday were not in too difficult situations and that pets are also safe and were not too stressed.
