Ridiculous requests that made you laugh out loud!

Not ridiculous in a bad way. I thought it cute! It did make me LOL!

To be clear, we’re talking about a dog.

Totally off topic but this reminds me of an incident I had in a sit in Queensland. I had the police knocking on my door asking about a lady that had been known to be living in that house. They had an order from Victoria police, the more they asked the more uncomfortable I felt, so I phoned the owner and let the policeman talk to her. I was quite surprised when the owner came back and said she had forgotten to warn the lady that the police were looking for her.

Saw an interesting cat sit today: the cat needs to be walked at least 3 times a day!!

I can imagine…, but in this case the sitter has to design their schedule around the 3 cat walks a day… when I look after a cat, I’m not expecting to have a schedule as if I’m sitting a dog that can be left alone for just a few hours!

I took my most recent cat for walks 3 or 4 times a day, on my schedule not hers. It was for enrichment only as she used a litter box. The reason she was on a lead and a house cat was that otherwise she’d try to kill any cat she came across - she had a pretty good go at the neighbour’s cat.

I once sat for a dog and four cat. The dog had an excellent recall and I took him off the leash to a park right behind the house. One of the cats always came with us, did the complete walk and came back home with us. He was really cute. He might be sleeping when we went out but if I asked him if he wanted to join in he was always ready.

ha! I had the same on a sit. 2 labs who were great off lead and the cat would join us in our wanders though she’s bail when we got to the field where we’d play fetch as that was too boring for her.

This is so adorable! I recently visited an upcoming sit for a dog and a cat. The home owner and I took the dog for a walk on the nearby beach, and the cat followed us, wanting to be involved. It was the sweetest thing ever. I am hoping she’ll join us on our walks when the sit begins.

Naw  Used to happen to us too when we were on a workaway in Spain - one of our tasks was to walk the dog, and there were some stray cats around and some others that belonged to the neighbours that would always follow us around on our dog walks, we always thought it was funny

Just seen one today, that asked that the sitter was to provide their own toilet paper.

Most of my sits are international I would have to negotiate in the video chat if they would be so courteous as to lend me a few sheets before I got to the shop

I buy my own toilet paper, toiletries, food, etc. But if I saw a listing that mentioned supplying your own TP, I’d avoid it, because the host would seem mean, which doesn’t bode well with partnering.

This made me think of Seinfeld’s “I cannot spare a square” episode!

The people I’ve actually sat for have been lovely (I screen carefully). But I’ve gotten some wild requests from people who see my profile and invite me to sit for them (I haven’t applied to sit for them). It’s always something godawful in the middle of nowhere which is why they’re not getting any applicants.

One guy who sent me an unsolicited invite had a small farm in a remote and unscenic location. He said I sounded like I just might work out for taking care of his livestock all day long (long list of farm chores included) while he was gone for 2 weeks but said I’d have to interview first to prove I was up to it. He seemed surprised when I declined this golden opportunity.

Another woman who lives a few miles away from us invited me because I “sounded wonderful” from my reviews. When I explained that I only did sits to travel away from home, she said, “But it would be so great for us if you did this!” Oh yes, I’m sure it would be — to get a great sitter for free who lives nearby. And of course, it’s all about her. No awareness that there needed to be something in it for the sitter since no money is exchanged. She actually followed up twice to beg me to change my mind.

Unbelievable!!

@RR12345 “compatible with the other occupants” - what? This TOTALLY goes against THS rules in the first place. There cannot be “other occupants” so what does it matter If views (political or otherwise) align? We are not going to be roommates with them, we aren’t being invited over for dinner or to their son’s birthday party. We will be there when they are not. Who cares about who I voted for as long as I take care of your home and pets with respect.
This philosophy baffles me to no end.
We can no longer associate with people with differing views to this degree?
Wow. Just wow.
How incredibly small minded.

WOW THAT’S REALLY CRAZY!!!.. :hushed::hushed::hushed: to expect a sitter to go pee in the bushes! I would have backed way out of that!
