You reap what you sow!

We just have to hope our old faithfuls stick around and we can book decent sits.

Oh wow. I hadn’t seen that video until now. Oh boy. I’m actually really creeped out. Who okayed this??? Who thought this would attract the right type of customer? Who thought it would be great for THS’s reputation??

@Twitcher Are you still resisting? I’m waiting for your follow up post. The suspense is killing me.

Nope! Definitely not watching it (ever ) :face_with_peeking_eye:

My 22 year-old daughter watched the video and thought it was cringey. As a young woman she found the sexual innuendos creepy and would definitely avoid THS based on this ad if she didn’t already know what it’s about. So, it’s not hitting the mark with the younger generation if that’s who it’s intended to reach.

Yeah, you cannot unsee it

Seriously, they are calling it a ‘first date’ now. What kind of people is THS trying to attract. Is it dating with the addition of pets now?

@systaran targeting the younger generation who probably think nothing of this and find it amusing. This is what THS is attracting and becoming? Lost the plot completely and when it all falls apart, which I sincerely hope it doesn’t, they only have themselves to blame. I’m not sticking around to watch what was a beautiful system disintegrate because of generational change.

I haven’t seen the video or any ads but the general feeling I get is that the pets are an afterthought for some sitters.
It’s all about what they can get out of it with the least effort.
It couldn’t be any further removed from the original ethos if it tried and it is so sad and disappointing.

@twitcher The video only mentioned pets at the end. My daughter asked if they were looking for someone to care for pets or someone to get down on all fours and act like one (the video mentions ‘liking them big’ and ‘getting down on all fours’ well before showing any pets). It’s bad. I don’t think they are targeting the right people for petsitting.

Yikes - I’m definitely not watching it, even for amusement.

Maybe better a video with a human and animal sitting on a couch and the human talking about how they wanted to meet the cat/dog after falling for them at first sight. The animal coming to the human and then the pet owner showing up saying they made the perfect match for their furry loved one… Focus on the pet and making matches.

IDK. I just don’t think the video is reaching out to the right demographic. Then again I’m not privy to THS market research.

@Cuttlefish the ‘theme’ was in a brief sent to affiliate partners. Several I know were horrified and refused to participate. I posted a screenshot I was sent of the brief in another thread and it was removed as “unverified information”. Well…here is the proof that it was in fact a real brief and a conscious choice by the THS marketing team to go down this path.

It was the opening dialogue that threw me for a six. Two guys sitting on a couch and it starts with…“I like 'em big, size does matter”. What the heck!! Instant turnoff!

For a site that is looking to attract, at the least, new homeowners, for strangers to stay in their homes with their prized possessions and treasured loved pets and who are responsible/grown/mature/respectable/trusting adults, I think this would actually turn them off joining rather than enticing them. It should start with the pets, end of story. All this “inclusive” stuff everywhere these days, everybody and everything has to be inclusive! Race, sexual preferences, politics, equality, it’s going too far for a site that should just simply be about caring for and loving someone’s pets and home. The inclusive stuff has no place on this site.

Wow!! That requires a whole new emoji not on offer here :flushed_face::flushed_face: #suchbadjudgement

All the sits the AI suggests for me are in USA. I live in UK and have not yet done a sit abroad. I can’t afford to fly to USA now and my days of suffering long haul flights are long done.

Just curious about the app - I’ve a very old iOS phone but don’t use the app on it because I find the website much easier to navigate plus the phone screen is too small. I do sometimes look at the app on the iPad if I’m away and haven’t taken the laptop. How will that be affected, if at all?

As for the rush towards AI, I’m currently watching the series The 100 on ‘a streaming service provided by a huge global on line selling platform’ and have also watched all the Terminator films.

As Ramsay said to Theon in Game of Thrones “If you think this has a happy ending, you haven’t been paying attention.”

Ive just listened to video. Its very creepy with a lot of innuendos. What are they thinking of, as daft as boarding passes idea. What next?

If this video was presented to Advertising Standards I’m sure it would be banned. How can THS think that using double entendre in any shape or form is acceptable for advertising. So Vulgar in my humble opinion.
