So true, I like my bananas very ripe… my partner on the other hand will gag at the sight and smell of nearly rotting bananas
Mine eats his when they’re still green on the tips. might as well chew on a latex glove.
Aren’t rotting bananas the reason that banana bread exists? LOL. At least that’s my default association.
Usually in the Video Interview (if they want one) I will ask for some Fridge/Freezer and Pantry space to put Groceries, usually at Hand over be it in person on when we arrive (either a note or Via WhatsApp) there will be details usually something like
Use any fruit, vege, breads or anything that’s going to expire, if they are happy to let us use their spices, jam’s etc, they will say, (even when they do say) help yourself to anything, we personally just wound not.
Sometimes HO will get us some things in, you can tell because the packet of Tomatoes and Lettuce have not been opened.
I always ask would the HO like some fresh Milk/Bread for when they get home (provided we are not 20min drive from the closest place we could get those) and usually I would go the day before and pick them up, however often they will say they are stopping to have a rest on the way and they will get some basic supplies for their return.
If I were a HO and came home to find my Freezers nearly empty, and I had not said “go for your life” I’d be feeling taken advantage of.
If a sitter got stuck, then replace the items you use and explain to the HO what happened and that you replaced them.
There’s so many grey areas and what different aged people think is appropriate these days, you don’t want to be writing up a set of “house rules” however you also don’t want to come home and having nothing to eat and then have to go shopping the next day either.
So maybe it’s worth chatting to them about before the sit starts, gives you peace of mind and them forewarned.

Amanda

Hi Globetrotter,
I’d also like to see your checklist.
Is there a way to direct message me?
Thanks very much.
