@CreatureCuddler That’s awful! I hope you didn’t use that microwave?
OMG - how do people live like that ![]()
I did not use anything in their kitchen. Thankfully I have my own kitchen gear in my camper so I used that. Otherwise I’d have had to do a LOT more cleaning.
That’s exactly my thinking for including it @Happypets ![]()

Omg, that is disgusting!!
Yikes. It’s just so easy for gross stuff to be hidden unless they do a zoom in slow walk through on video that you can watch closely. which, no one has time for that.
That reminds me of a youth hostel we once stayed at in our backpacking days… It was in the middle of nowhere and we had walked 30km with packs & of course it started raining. The hostel was so awful that we pitched out tent (luckily it was free standing) inside and slept in that. Tried not to touch anything else!! So glad you had your camper @Happypets !!
@DeeMcC We spent over 6 hours cleaning that kitchen and the appliances on our arrival, so I was not a happy bunny!
We did review accordingly…
You really went over and above @Happypets ! I can do basic and old, but clean and functional is a must and I would’ve backed out very slowly from that housesit!
I don’t think I would have stayed in those conditions, so disrespectful of the HO to expect it.
Yuk, it would be interesting if we could add photos to our reviews.
That might shake a few HO that need it in to a bit of cleaning action.
It was a very big debate. Not only was it dirty but it stank. It took days of spraying febreeze and having every window and door open 24/7 to have it not stink. Thankfully there was a super amazing and cuddly tiny kitty that I fell in love with and wanted to rescue from a life of grime. I would really have loved to be able to see her again but the owners REALLY didn’t take kindly to my honest review of their home and filed a dispute against me for a bunch of made up stuff. So I’m guessing that’ll never happen.
We dont ask for much - a good WIFI connection and a naked butler and we’re ready to go
Can he go unshaved in winter to prepare for the cold?
I’d be cautious doing a sit that has an airbnb on the grounds. I had what was meant to be a relaxed 4 day sit in the summer, which turned into two different lots of Airbnb guests coming and going, which meant cleaners came in and out of the house and people were asking me for things. It wasn’t appropriate and made the stay pretty hectic.
I have a sit in 70 days. I requested the welcome guide a few days ago and nothing. Since I am nomadic, want to get all details clear of my travels in between etc. And what to expect. And because of the hurricane, my sit before is in the Ashville, NC area, so getting from there to the next sit is in real jeopardy. The highways may not be fixed. There are 5 bridges out. So I am trying to deal with logistics. The sit in Ashville seems to be still in tact. I hope there is power…
Good luck and stay safe @Huronbase ![]()
I usually have sits with dogs sleeping with, and small ones, really not an issue. I had a sit with a 5 month old, 75 lb puppy on my pillows…
