Sitters How Do You Feel About Mowing lawns?

Good Morning all
I was looking through a Petsit I fancied and one of the responsibilities was to Mow the lawn. I don’t mind keeping the house tidy & clean but the petsit’s I’ve done before usually have a Gardner.
How do you all feel about mowing the lawn?

I have no problem with it, to me it’s part of attending to the house. Same thing if there’s a swimming pool…

No problem. I enjoy gardening more than house work so I am known to do some weeding and tidying up as well. Mowing the lawn is a very common occurrence for us even when there is a gardener. It’s amazing what things you learn about the plants, trees, environment and even the place you are staying by working alongside the gardener.

As paid professional pet/house sitter, I have never been asked to care for grounds beyond watering.

I was surprised to see that request in a trade situation, but apparently it’s a thing and if the sit gets booked, someone is willing or managed to negotiate out of it.

We have seen many listings requesting the lawn to be cut, or suggesting it if you feel like - and we have happily done it. Mr Itchyfeet was very happy with a sit-on mower at one house

Not an issue at all for us. We’re not skilled gardeners by any means but happy to whip a mower around when needed!

We happily mow the lawn, often without being asked but first checking with HOs that they are ok with us doing that

I don’t mind if it is included in the description before we accept. I would be a bit miffed if
it was dropped on us unexpectantly.
We have been in this current sit for two weeks and already Ive done two decent cleans of the house and tidied the garden area. That’s more than I’d do in my own apartment in two months

Angela, we need some chuckle emojis.

I guess it depends on how big the lawn is, how long the sitting is, if they have appropriate machinery and the time of year…

I have never been asked to but would probably have no problem doing it depending on the above

We don’t mind it at all, in fact, hubby quite enjoys it, especially if it’s a big yard and there’s a ride on mower. On some sits, we’ve even done more extensive yard work (we offered), and cut down old shrubs for a homeowner.

We’ve mowed lawns in this century and last …

Husband got to use the F1 version … I’ve had the “Push Me Pull Ya” … on more than one occasion!

If the sit is more than a week and during growing season, we expect it and offer if not asked. Part of the fun since we no longer have a home of our own.

It depends on the sit. One of my favorite pet sits was in a mansion on the River Avon. I offered and my wife took a photo of me cutting their lawn on their riding mower. I love that photo!

We actually want one that looks like the latter.

I love gardening so am always happy to tend the plants but we’ve made it clear in our profile that we don’t do lawn mowing. It’s not just the labour involved but the fact that machinery might malfunction. I’ve never used a ride-on mower in my life and don’t want to start now!

I love gardening too Jane but not mowing grass. I would be lethal on a sit on mower lol.
The last time I used a hover mower I run over the cable. I’m safer sticking to weeding & watering

We’ve never been asked to mow a lawn but gladly took the initiative to do so while sitting in Ireland as the grass was getting long. The owners were so appreciative when they returned.
