Speediest way to attain a sitter

Hi I am a newbie here and looking for tips on securing a sitter within the next fortnight. Should I look locally or more global? I’m starting to panic a bit now. :see_no_evil:

The broader your search, the more responses you’ll get. If you’re ok with global, your pool will certainly be deeper. Do you have an active post ?

Hey, thanks for the reply. Yes I do, I uploaded it yesterday morning. Does it usually just take a bit of time? Don’t want to be stressing at the last minute.

It can vary on so many things. If you post it here in the forum you might get a few more “looks” and, if you’re open, people may be able to offer you some options to tweak in which might get more responses.

Attach your link to your profile on here, and create a fresh post asking people for feedback on your profile, that way if there’s anything obvious that may delay sitters in applying, we can all help you.

How quickly sitters apply comes down to your location, pets, home, images, etc. Some get applications straight away, but with some it takes a little time.

It depends on how demanded your area is. Some listings get the five applicants in a couple of hours, others don’t get anybody in a couple of weeks.
You can link your listing here and get some advice in case you can improve it to make it more attractive. You may also find someone here. And then, there’s the last minute listing. There’s a specific section for that on the forum.
Good luck!

Depending on where you are located, finding someone available in 2 weeks’ time might be hard.
Most HO’s have more success in creating a strong listing and waiting for sitters to apply rather than reaching out to potential sitters. The uselessness of the sitters’ calendar has been discussed many times on this forum.

I’m under the impression that a sit is considered “last minute” if it’s less than seven days away, which doesn’t help a home owner’s anxiety level :pensive:
