Long time trusted housesitter, first time forum poster. This one was too good to keep to myself. Last march my partner and I had a horrific experience with a host, and after raising it w/TH and getting full support from them to leave early, we were shocked to see they were still on the site and TH didn’t remove them, after several back and forth emails with support and filing an official report. There’s since been another terrible review and claim of reporting them, yet I still see them posting new dates.
The best part- please read to the bottom of their list of “responsibilities” and then explain to me how this is ok?
(I’ve cut out the beginning part bc it is a long list)
“Do not leave pump running 24 hrs. This uses too much electric and is not necessary. Add salt or water as needed.
Instructions will be explained during our overlap. We will stay in guest house.
air conditioners in the main house can be turned on during the day for 2 hours since there is a hybrid solar power system.
take care of the property which includes cleaning the main house and small guest house. The window frames need to be cleaned once a week. Do not use vinegar on floors. Vinegar is only for window glass and screens.
gardener works one day a week. Give him water.
During the dry season water some plants.
have capability to perform repairs-handy person
communicate everyday with us online
put things in proper place-unlike our last sitters who mixed everything up
Seems like a clear red flag listing. Was this how it appeared before you accepted the sit? If I saw a listing like this, I’d laugh and skip, skip, skip.
“Hi there, I would love to apply for your sit. Please check out my great reviews from previous sits. Those were before my latest breakdown, but I know I’ll feel much better in a new environment…”
What’s also funny is that TH communicated to us after begging them to remove them from the site (back in April, 2024) that
the member was given an official warning and added to their internal watch list to monitor their activity going forward.
