In response to the notion that “even paid sitters would refuse”, I think that’s exactly it…a paid sitter would never take this job on. I suspect people like this use platforms like TH to lure sitters under the guise of a “communal favor”, and maybe hoping that the sitter is in strong need of a place to crash. Taking on pets is a huge responsibility, this woman should not have 27 animals in the first place without actual farm-level live-in help. And other posters are right, if she’s a GC she has the means….something about this situation seems very strange but I guess it really could just be denial.

So sorry to the original poster and I hope it gets resolved right away. I have to wonder what kind of QC occurs on the HO listings when they go up?

Does TH ever contact SPCAs when they get such horrendous reports??
They should, but whether they do or not, the OP should. Please tell me this person has been reported to an agency that will rescue those poor animals and stop her from having any more.

RSPCA if in England, or Wales. (which this is as she mentioned Canterbury).

But just to say the RSPCA does not cover entire UK.

In Scotland we have our own organisation, SSPCA.

These types of agencies usually want to get details from whoever witnessed the neglect or abuse, so I doubt THS could be useful.

This sounds like an awful experience! The lady clearly doesn’t know how to look after animals and it is clearly something that the RSPCA should look into so well done for reporting this.

I have had a couple of similar experiences that were reported to THS and another sit company. One sit was reported to the support team on THS as a very dangerous sit to both ourselves and the public but we left immediatley after the initial interview and declined the sit. It was a german lady who’s add on THS was 2 calm well behaved dogs with no behavioural issues and easy to care for. When we got to the meet and greet the lady was completley mad! Her dogs were aggressive out in public and were required Muzzles due to aggression towards other dogs and children ‘But she didn’t use them as it was cruel’. They were extremely friendly in the home but we felt unsafe walking them… so reported to THS as soon as we left the interview.

Our other one we reported as they were spying on us through the external cameras then left us a 2 star review! As this was a different app we made a formal complaint and they looked into it and that couple now have a note on file. I am unsure if THS have a similar process with monitoring sits and making notes for futher review but might be worth looking into.
