Not the fake tour or accommodation scams. You read about bogus airbnb advertising or bait and switch tactics but, so far, haven’t been caught out by them. They sound really bad.

But yes if talking about street scams in Cancun, Barcelona, Rome, London, Tel Aviv or especially Paris. I’ve found that street scams are fun and part of the adventure of travel. I have been caught by a few street scams but the scammers were good and entertaining enough that I smile remembering those experiences. Not so much dealing with street scams that didn’t fool me and turned into unpleasant experiences.

Aside from being robbed at gunpoint in Papua New Guinea and surviving a tsunami in Vanuatu we have never had any dramas when traveling. CT is the most important thing now days with online transactions but there is really no excuse if you do get caught. There is a plethora of online resources not to mention 2FA implementation. I do feel sorry for those caught out but hmmm.

I’ve had bank cards cloned in both Thailand (BKK airport and a Mall in Chiang Mai) and Vietnam (DaNang ATM).

I live in Thailand and it hasn’t happened for a while :crossed_fingers: so maybe things have got better.

Fortunately I was able to report immediately and didn’t lose any money but not being able to receive a replacement card was a huge inconvenience even though I have several usable cards at any time.

The word ‘aside’ is doing some heavy lifting in that sentence :joy:
Glad you’re ok.
