Too soon? ☺️ Xmas bookings

Congrats! Not too soon definitely, I would love to book mine now, do you think its reasonable to ask last years sitters if they want us back?

I think it’s perfect timing. Many people know what they’re doing at Xmas well in advance, for example I alternate Jersey/Perth.

I think so, yes. If the people I sat for last year at Christmas invited me again, I would say YES

I misspoke, i was the sitter, so would you ask the HO or leave it for them to ask you?

@SaraJ
No harm in contacting the hosts and telling them you will be available .

Some hosts will not be confirming their travel plans until much closer to the date which means you may miss out on another sit whilst you wait for them to confirm their dates.

We’ve learnt that Australian sits are often not posted until very close to their dates……like a week or two!! However as they’re in great demand they usually get a sitter confirmed pretty quick.

Never too soon to book for Christmas! We don’t have Christmas booked yet because we aren’t sure what part of the world we will be in then but normally book well in advance. So far we’ve sat on Mallorca, Crete and Amsterdam over Christmas.
Have a good time on Jersey! We had a sit and then a repeat sit on Jersey and then a sit on Guernsey. Jersey has a great bus system all over the island to explore. It’s a beautiful place! Book your flights or ferry early as the prices go up as the time gets closer.

Yes we know the Island very well as we have family here but they’ve now moved into residential care so we’re doing housesitting when we visit. The bus system is great isn’t it! Fortunately we have use of our relatives’ car whilst we’re here as some areas like Bonne Nuit are a 20 minutes steep walk from the nearest bus stop.

Based on personal experience, it’s never too early to book a Christmas holiday! :christmas_tree: The sooner, the better because then life happens (work gets busy, you have to move, the roof needs repairs and so on), and when you check places in October, you don’t find anything suitable.

That reminds me I need to find something for summer… life keeps happening to me

Let us know when you book the trip, I think nothing beats Christmas by the seaside, next to a cosy fire.

Sounds lovely! As for ‘too soon’, I’m now booked up through until next spring lol. So far I’ve avoided being away at Christmas as I promised family and friends I’d be home then and they’d kill me if I went AWOL lol

We have housesat over the last 3 xmas/new year periods, each one booked almost a year before. Not through THS though as these are paying clients. Lovely house and pets and always beautifully decorated for Christmas. We already have more than one request for us to sit over next Christmas. Struggling with which to choose

We’re currently sitting for two indoor cats in beautiful Neutral Bay Sydney for 3 weeks. Sit was arranged in October 2024. It’s a repeat sit and this will be our 4th time here. We’re from the U.K. and have close family here so we come for 2 months and spread ourselves out.
Amazing house overlooking Sydney harbour bridge and the Opera House with wonderful and appreciative pet parents. Have to keep pinching myself.

Absolutely @SaraJ
We love to be invited back and typically we book out months in advance, so if home owners reach out earlier to us for sits in the future, we are thankful for them!

We posted our Christmas dates a few days ago as inspired by this thread annnnnd we’re already booked! This is certainly the farthest out we’ve ever confirmed a sitter but so glad to avoid that holiday rush, and so much faster than I could have possibly anticipated
