Transporting pets to vets when no car provided

If an animal — pets or otherwise — is in an emergency situation, hopefully humans will prioritize getting them care over worrying that their car will get dirty.

And if you’re at a home when that happens, grab a shower curtain if possible, which can help protect your car in a pinch.

@KiwiSwede
Those dog “hammocks” are great for keeping the back seats of cars clean but i wouldn’t sit for any more than 2 dogs.
Thats quite plenty :grinning:

Out of curiosity, what were the past experiences? I have to admit I’m getting fed up with having to clean my car after muddy dogs have scrabbled around in the back (moving the towels I place for protection).

it was the only thing I could think of after checking everywhere I could imagine for the carrier (turned out it was in the attic above the garage). Just a towel covering wouldn’t work as she was working HARD to get loose. so the basket in basket helped lock the towel down for the walk through town.

In my own car I had one of those childrens room floor mats with a rubber backside in the back of my car, and as the mat was too large I also cut two smaller pieces of it that I used as bottom padding in crates. The mat stayed still because of the rubber backside, and the carpet-top made the dogs able to get some grip when moving. Bought it from a second hand store so very affordable, and can throw it out when it is needed.

lol. I took a doggo to the park for a walk in my van and didn’t really think about the slide factor. first turn I took he slid all the way across (I have laminated flooring in my van). poor little dude. we found a better solution going forward.
