What do Owners do to secure valuables?

Sorry if I came across as overly strong. It just read as a big concern as opposed to “Would it be okay to lock off a room?” Here’s the thing: Sitters and hosts (homeowners/pet parents etc) are all members. They all pay more or less equal yearly fees for memberships with similar tiers. Some people do both. If you pose a question in the “Owner Questions” it is going to be seen by sitters and visce versa. So within the forum you are always addressing the entire community.

I do both, and have been (maybe overly) offended sometimes by people’s phrasing when they refer to sitters or owners as though they are a monolith. I’ve sat for 15 different hosts through THS and have had around 19 different THS sitters in my home. Everyone was an individual.

Maybe it’s me, but there is very little difference in type between the type of people I sit for and the type of people who sit for me. We all love pets. We all love to travel.

(I also agree that locking off a room in a 2 bedroom seems like a lot. I’d recommend if you’ll be doing this a lot consider getting a knob lock for a closet. )

I saw a listing this week where the HO locks the MBR and the “bed” is cushions on the floor in the tight office. And yet they have applicants (desirable location).

We have a small one square foot safe and a file cabinet with one drawer that locks. The safe is mostly to protect some important things from eventual damage by fire or water so not because we are worried about having things stolen. The file cabinet is for personal documents. We trust our sitters not to peak everywhere otherwise we wouldn’t welcome them into our home. :hugs:

I have over 40 sits, some in 6 bedroom, 7 bath homes. Luckily they had cleaning staff. But I would welcome you locking your master if I stayed with you. I like to keep a small footprint, less I have to clean. I would close the door to the master anyway. So you could still get someone responsible with locking your master. Or just be able to lock your closet.
