My real goal is to bring a pair of wellies to the UK!
@Kelownagurl I would buy them here and take them back to BC
I travel pretty light - a roller bag that fits into overheads, total weight about 12 kg.
Aside from clothes for the location - a package of Sbux instant coffee (single serve) and one of those cell-phone holders that clips to a car’s AC vents. Most of the sits I go to now allow me to use their cars and I need to get directions. A minis 1st aid kit.
They won’t fit. I’ve often thought about getting a locker at Gatwick and just leaving some stuff there for each time we come, like wellies and a cappuccino maker…
Won’t fit your feet or suitcase? @Kelownagurl … Wear them on the flight home, not sure about the coffee machine though
Just read an article about what items people always bring with them on holiday from home. They
ranged from vegetable peeler, own teapot to bringing a shower head that they preferred!
We always bring a toasted sandwich maker and a slow cooker. Not every home has one and we would miss them if they weren’t available!
I would be interested if others bring their own things from home and what they are.
Or are we just weird?
Hello @Highfive … we’ve moved your question here to this thread where you’ll find LOTS of answers to your question… and discover you are not “weird” in the slightest
We are all weird @Highfive and it’s okay!
I carry my weirdness proudly everywhere I go.
WE bring a french press, our own coffee, popcorn (we are popcorn snobs;-), and paper towels. We haven’t traveled abroad yet so this is good to read!
Unfortunately my hubby LOL! I try to talk him into staying home but he always want to come. I’m being cheeky
We like your sense of humor and “cheeky” reasoning @Globetrotter …
Basic food and drinks and doggy treats. Otherwise far too much - just like holidays when you take a suitcase full and only wear half of it
@Kelownagurl this is funny as one of our sitters came with his own Nespresso machine. We couldn’t understand why he would worry so much about the coffee pot UNTIL he made a cup for each of us! Well, needless to say, we put a Nespresso machine on our Christmas wish list that year and our kids got it for us. Best decision ever…and we take it with us on our sits as well!
I’m taking a clothes brush with me on every sit. Affectionate pets are the BEST, but their huge quantities of moulting fur is a little less appealing!
On our next sit, and any subsequent sits, I’ll also be taking a brush for cats as this seems to be something that’s often missing. If we find that the cat likes being brushed, we’ll leave the brush behind as a gift. If not, I’ll sanitise it and take it along to the next sit!
I have started taking my silk pillowcase easy to hand wash drys quickly.
American Express and Charles Schwab cards.
Never leave home without them
@Amparo and your sense of humour and positive outlook on life. I doubt you ever leave home (wherever that might be) without those either.
Hi @Snowbird!
I am just having too much fun
My life is amazing!
Whilst I am hear in the US, I am taking advantage of all the perks on offer using all my benefits as I rack up miles and prepare for my onward journey ahead,
Which BTW is looking fabulous with each passing day.
As you know I am your local resident happy nutter I mean sitter.
and no, never. Just upgraded them and got new replacements with extended expiry dates.
@Kelownagurl , this have probably been answered not once since April - have you though about “ankle wellies”? These would probably fit into the locker
@Anywhere.Local I discovered “ankle wellies” in France last year… and they are fab! Mine are a little less high than those in your pic, but I use them for gardening, for dog walks, and have even been known to hike the hills on wet days, they are so comfy. I found mine in a farmers shop close to where we live, they weren’t cheap but have been worth their weight in gold. I take them on all our local house sits now!
