What is protocol when you have invited someone to sit and they haven’t responded

Seems safest to assume that they’re not available or interested …Time to move on to other applicants. If they applied, you accepted and they’ve not yet replied it COULD (certainly not guaranteed) be a harbinger of other potential issues.
The sooner you find someone, the sooner you can relax and focus on your trip !

Ok like I said I m very new to this sit - apologies for getting the terminology wrong and making it confusing

We had something similar although we’d met the young lady. After talking we decided to offer her the sit and it took a few days if I’m honest. But I’d taken her WhatsApp number so messaged her though that and it transpired she’d forgotten. I’d go on to the next applicant.

That’s a red flag for me.

Three hours is expecting too much. They may be on a different schedule. I’d expect a response within maybe 15 hours or start wondering about communication issues.

I’m a bit confused so you offered them the sit formally before they’d had a video chat with you? Most sitters (not all) wouldn’t accept a sit without the chat prior to you formally offering it. Perhaps you offered it informally though by the message system maybe?
It is a challenge working out the nuances of the process… best wishes.

@Argos12 it’s time to forget them and move on to your other applicants. If they were keen, they would have responded by now. The invited sitter is not locked in until you confirm them.

24 hours is sufficient time to wait if the sit is due to start soon .

However, I suggest that with your next potential sitters you invite them to a video chat first before inviting them to sit for you - then if you decide they are suitable confirm the sit immediately after the video chat and ask them to do the same ( accept ) .

Once again editing because reading the responses I’d have happily deleted min
