What is your 'must do' fix on a sit?

YES! I love that you do this with washing machines - I do too! Clean seals and a sweet-smelling, clean drum are a personal obsession… Our washing machine is so pristine, you could do surgery in there! :joy:

@pips I am curious…can you tell me what you use to get it that clean?

When I clean, I don’t go for half measures, but unfortunately, there’s no exciting secret wisdom to impart! I’ve just looked after it really carefully since it was new and obsessively keep on top of cleaning so that mildew can’t take hold. The last washing machine we had was awful, so this one is being lavished with extra attention!

I use liquid detergent and fabric conditioner (never, ever powder) for washing clothing and keep the door ajar between washes for ventilation. I regularly wipe the rubber door seal with a microfiber cloth and an antibac spray and every so often, I’ll run a hot cleaning cycle with an empty drum and a capful of Zoflora (UK brand - concentrate disinfectant) added to the detergent drawer, which removes residue and leaves everything super clean and smelling fresh. The machine is in mint condition!

Photos! Why didn’t I think of that? Great idea

As a homeowner, YES to all the cleaning! (No to re-organizing because I do keep spices, etc. in a specific order.) I actually do most of this on a regular basis in my own home, but when you see/use something every day/week, it’s easy to become blind to it, so it’s nice to have a second pair of eyes not only notice but do something about it! Certainly not expected, and obviously not if it takes the place of dog care, but it would be a huge bonus if someone really wanted to clean up or fix something small.

Also, this is giving me ideas for things to make sure I’ve done around the house, as well as a checklist of things to make sure I do before our sitter arrives.

We scrape the stove if it’s very dirty. We have become almost experts on ceramic stoves since a lot of people take pride in maintaining it in perfect condition (adding a lot of stress to our sit!). Now when we see a stove in terrible condition we just can’t help ourselves ;).
