I haven’t noticed any changes in the functionality for homeowners, but then again I don’t ever search for sitters! Early experiences showed me that was like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. I do know that some filters are only available on the phone app and not on the desktop.
I’ve been getting loads of invites over the last few weeks and I’m finding it frustrating. The majority of them haven’t been personalised or even started the message with my name. And I have the dates I’m booked up for clearly on my profile and up to date availability and the invites are always for dates I’m already booked for. This annoys me when as a sitter I spend so much time personalising messages to HOs.
A couple of the HOs have been very persistent and messaged several times and, frankly, come off as desperate and too intense which has put me off their sits even if suitable future dates did come up.
As a full time sitter I am constantly on the app reviewing sits and actively applying for those I’m interested in and fit my needs. The invite is never going to be the thing that makes me apply. It’ll only ever be a good listing that I have actively sought out.
I also wish there was an option to indicate “nomad” instead of a fixed location because it does seem to the location that I’ve input that is attracting these annoying invites. And it just becomes a lot of admin to deal with unsolicited messages from HOs that clearly haven’t taken much time over my profile, they’ve just messaged based on location.
You can change that. For example to Ouagadougou or somewhere else with few THS members. Or choose a place where you want to go to.
I get them sometimes. Usually local ones from Ireland and I’ve had a few from the UK. Not sure how the UK ones found my profile. None of the invites have resulted in a sit so far. Most often the dates just don’t suit me.
