Who had a confirmed sitter then the sitter cancelled?

@kimberlykalkhoven . I am wondering about an inconsistency in your original post.
You stated that your son was driving home and your place was “halfway” but later you described your place as “his home too”.
It seems more likely that your son was staying at yours for one night to avoid a hotel expense.

@kimberlykalkhoven sounds like a situation entirely of your own making :worried:

You demanded to break the T&Cs of the sit - the sitter rightfully cancelled.

The sitter was absolutely within their rights to cancel. External parties during the sit violates Ts&Cs unless previously agreed such as cleaners, dog walkers, pool maintenance etc.

I have a cleaner coming twice a week and a dog walker every
Thursday during my current sit in London which is amazing; but the HOs family member or friend or other guest would be intrusive and against Ts & Cs.

I just had a confirmed sitter cancel. Three months after she committed, she said that when she read the Welcome Guide she figured out my home was rural and she didn’t want that. The title of my listing is “Beautiful rural home with wonderful dog” and the intro states that we are 30 minutes from 2 small cities. I did report it to THS. I had turned down another applicant, and I am regretting I did not select her (no longer available). In the future I will be leery of sitters with no THS reviews, just recommendations from others. In the meantime, I really need to line up a reliable sitter, anyone interested?

@DSD sorry to hear about this sitter cancellation . The reason given doesn’t seem reasonable since just a quick glance at the photos in your listing it’s obvious to me that it’s a rural sit .

As you still have a couple of months to go I hope you find a great reliable sitter.

Interesting seeing as I just had a sitter cancel and they also offered to drop in to my home for a price per day. It felt a little
Scammy to me. They did not offer a reason to cancel but I see they took a much longer sit in my place.
It sucks.

@catdad … Please report the sitter for their actions. There seem to be so many unscrupulous ones these days and they are going to ruin it for all.

Ok I will do that. Thanks.

Had your sitter actually confirmed? Because the system won’t let you apply for another sit, when you already have a confirmed sit, it says “you are busy with another sit”.

Again, I think the new product update to some extent will help with this, but the truth is scammy people are going to scam and pet parents shouldn’t have to “police” sitters. THS should be tracking cancellations and booting cancel hopping sitters (and pet parents who abuse cancellations).

There are still ways around that. Example: Sitter could have been able to get in touch with the homeowner because of a previous application.

It sounds like a fanstastic sit! I’m sure you’ll find someone.

Sorry this happened - your listing does look great, and at least the sit is 2 months away. I hope you find a great sitter.
