Would sitters come to a month-long house sit with no pets?

Are you kidding? Where do I sign up?

I don’t sit full time as a I have a home, a spouse who has to sometimes visit an office, and most importantly pets! However, if I did sit full time, I’d probably love a month long “break” from the routine of petcare. Not all sitters are comfortable with gardens, but what you describe sounds like paradise to me other than no pets. Are there feral cats? Deer that drop by? Wild turkeys? Have you thought of getting chickens.?

Hi @Bluehorse

I’ve passed the feedback over to the team  if I hear anything back I’ll let you know!

We have a month-long sit in September - no pets. We have some gardening -mowing, watering plants etc.
It’s in a lovely part of the UK.
I’m really looking forward to it although I have the odd panic about killing a much-loved plant or tree. I have no idea why I get those feelings.
I think most sitters would love a long sit without pets - we usually do some light gardening etc anyway if we’re on a summer sit.

We have done a handful of sits without pets before and they are our favourite.

As full time nomadic sitters, it is nice to occasionally take the big responsibility of pets out of the equation.

We have a ten week sit with no pets coming up very soon - we’re counting the days

Hi @bigdogzpnw. Absolutely many would be interested in this, provided your home was applealing for all the usual reasons (location, comfort, etc.).

Has your sitting schedule changed to what you had posted previously @Colin?

I just checked and unbelievably that three month list of sits I posted back in March ended yesterday! - The year is flying by!

I had a Seniors’ Moment - I was looking at last year’s schedule @Colin :joy:
Better not write more as this is off topic!!

Sounds great actually. I’m always looking for sits near bike trails . For those of us that own our own home, this doesnt sound much different than the things we do around our own home. I have to mow my lawn, weed my garden, etc. Sign me up!! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Absolutley ! We have just agreed to house sit in sept for 2 months. We have been housesitting since January last year, this will be the first without pets but it involves caring for the garden a little which we’re looking forward to. They have had sitters watch their cat, but this time they are travelling with him as they are going to see grandchildren who adore him ! I think that some parts of the year and depending on where you are leaving a house unattended can be worrying due to freezing conditions and perhaps risk of flood ? So I get it !

literally the dream! Would you like a free Air BNB? Yes!

One of these no pet sits popped up near me and it was gone in less than 2 hours.

No pet sits in some areas get taken up like fresh hot french fries. You should be good to go.

@bigdogzpnw, great question. Yes - the housesitter community has diverse personal circumstances and listing preferences. Subject to property particulars and reasonable responsibilities then we’d suspect that you’d find a housesitter.
For context, earlier this year we completed a three-month housesit in Western Canada without pets. And in a few days, we return - for third time - to a housesit that has no pets.

Absolutely! In fact, hubby and I will spend Feb-May house-only sitting. Adding a little yard work, if it truly is a little, wouldnt be an issue.

Absolutely! I’d love the opportunity to care for a nice garden, along with the flexibility to explore for longer times than persisting allows.

Hi!
We have been sitting for 5 years and taken care of many yards and gardens. All of our sits have come with at least one pet, but we would definitely consider a sit requiring just home and yard work if it was in a location we were interested in exploring.

I don’t think you’d have any problem finding someone. While pets are a big part of the sitting, for full time sitters it’s sometimes it’s nice to break from pet duties. It allows more time to explore your area.
I feel the the house sitting aspect of THS is very underutilized as it’s important to have someone in your home whe gone for extended times for the reasons you discussed.

I would be happy to do a month-long sit with plants and gardens to care for when I am available.

Yes, I would definitely be interersted, although it would very much depend where you are and when?
