Hi Jenny,
Many thanks. I have now heard back from TH and they have now changed their minds as I have been informed that this sit has been removed from the site.
It did not sound like these owners were taking things too seriously, as they mentioned taking to a dog friendly pub etc. You cannot be hanging on tightly to the lead at all times, as now required by law, if sat sipping drinks.
Thank you.
Thank you for bringing up the topic, @Visit . Helps awareness for fellow members. In addition to many good points mentioned, when there are so many requirements by law in a country, it is super important to mention in a listing to give a transparent impression of a sit and of the local laws - and in effect also to get the right applications for a good match. I would imagine the host would more easily be liable both re. sitters and third parties if this is not handled responsibly - and it would be interesting to see if THS also could be held accountable if the platform was warned and didn’t take action on non-transparency of such a sit.
@fledermaus mentioned the owner. I too have reservations on why people choose to buy certain animals. Sometimes it serms they might choose it because it is for instance big/ strong/ dangerous/ can do serious damage, as that is clear part of the breed description. What reasons would one have for choosing a high risk breed? I also have reservations towards people who make a lot of excuses for an animal (you can see this for instance if a dog has injured or killed an animal or a person). If you do not as an owner take full responsibility for the behavior of your animal and the consequences of it, then it is not a host that is a good match for me.
I find that those hosts that do take on that responsibility for their pet are also hosts that are more likely to have a well trained, sweet and well adapted pet.
Thanks for popping back to update us @Visit - and for raising your concerns with the team. I’m glad to hear we’ve been able to take action.
In the US, banned breeds can vary from one city to next and often change from year to year.
Yes, a baby was just killed by a pit bull and their county had previously banned that breed and later repealed the ban.
