Best Moments Captured: The Ultimate Sitter Update!

I used to eat them when in UK and apparently there was an uncle in the family with the same addiction.. I crunch my way through a whole bag full !
Haven’t seen them in Spain but maybe some UK outlets like Iceland and M and S might sell them.. I’m trying to take better care of my teeth these days! It’s the pain of the bills mainly!

I used to suck them, couldn’t possibly crunch them. Enough said, we’re off topic

Pear drops are popular amongst the characters on Coronation Street. I shall have to try some next time I get to a Brit shop

Really? Coronation Street is set up in Manchester, didn’t think it was a particularly northern crave.. well I think it’s like Marmite you will know with the first taste if they are for you!

Definately a northern delicacy  I grew up in Manchester and pear drops were a favourite.
They were invented by a confectioner in York.

I have a bunch of pear drops, because on a London trip (not sitting at the time), I went to one of those old-timey sweets stores and asked what were British classic candies and they recommended pear drops.

I lived in Marple near Stockport and Manchester.. fatal attraction to Pear Drop Country! Well I was drawn ..Subconsciously.. the power of addiction to sugar.
There’s a Swizzles factory in Stockport- my brother worked there and you could eat as many sweets as you wanted..( they knew how cloying some of their products were! ) He would get sugar everywhere and have to have a hot shower to fhey rid of it.
Rowntree Mackintosh are based up in York so it doesn’t surprise me Pear Drops were invented / created thereabouts. Well done that man? Or woman? Toute Sweet success!

@Highfive York was also home to Terry’s Chocolate famous for their Chocolate Oranges, and Cravens Sweets

Interesting how they clustered together. Is the dental training college also centred there lol?
My future wife lodged in York for a year while she did her teacher training in York and Ripon St John. The husband was bursar at Rowntree. He brought home the chocolate which for my wife was way better than bacon. If bars were too heavy with chocolate they would be rejected and so couldn’t be sold.. workers could bring then home. What a fab perk!
The bursar told me my future wife had a chocolate addiction and used to raid the chocolate cupboard at night!
To this day my job is to hide the chocs and ration out their consumption. She stole from the children’s Easter egg stash!
My Pear Drop saga is a drop in the ocean in comparison. Mind you I don’t share those sweets with ANYONE!

I got to the Brit shop today to get my hands on some of these famous pear drops ( they are lovely by the way). Spotted some Jaffa cakes and Tunnock’s wafers as well. So I am all set now for the next while.
