Can I block out my availability on the calendar?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently experiencing a rash of Xmas invites and I’m sure others are too. I’m not sitting (at home) so my calendar is clear. When I went to block out days it said “ show the days you are available” :thinking: I guess I’m missing something but if someone can tell me how to do it maybe I can save some HO’s some time and hope. I’m working on the app if that makes a difference.

Cheers Cathie

@Cathie As the default is Not Available, there’s really nothing more you can do. Can you tell by the message included with the invites that they have checked your availability calendar? I know the calendar is not popular with sitters but if yours is all in white, then you’re not available. You could also change your profile heading to Not Available for Sits or put it at the beginning of the Experience section in capital letters.

I am doubtful you would notice much of an impact. I frequently get invites for dates I am already booked for THS sits. So dates that I am clearly not available.

@temba, @MaggieUU

Thanks , no way of knowing if they checked. I guess I was hoping I wouldn’t show up if not available so clearly not the case.

Off to change my title, but it’s nice to be in demand :wink:

I’m sure that was one change that was to be implemented @MaggieUU when the Inbox and communication was “improved” several years ago but obviously it hasn’t where owners can still invite when we’re already booked!

I wanted to cut down on unsolicited invitations and what worked well for me was deleting all of my favorites. And if you’re not sitting for a stretch, you might want to change your location to somewhere cut off, like Antarctica, because then you’ll surface less frequently in sitter searches done by hosts.

@Cathie Yes just go to your sitter dashboard > Availability tab > switch to Set unavailable dates at the top.
Super easy once you toggle that saved me heaps of awkward declines

@Maggie8K lol, well I changed my title to “not sitting at Xmas"and it says I’m in Australia, nothing favourited in the USA and it’s not on my wish list but still got an invite today from California :rofl: clearly people are getting desperate. Ah well I tried :person_shrugging:

There’s no sure-fire way. Just the possibility of cutting down invitations.

there is no facility for UNAVAILABLE dates.
