Example: I know I"m going to be in LA from Feb 12-16, but there are no house sits posted for those dates. Is it possible for me to post somewhere, “pet sitter available these dates, anyone need a vacation?” Then a pet owner could decide to take that quick trip they’ve been wanting to take, but haven’t planned yet.

THS doesn’t work that way and there is no way to self advertise besides your own profile. Owners create a listing with the dates they need, and sitters apply. For owners to view and contact sitters, they must have a listing with their set dates and can then send sitters invites for their dates. There is no way for members to contact eachother other than applications or invites.
Your best bet is to set up a saved search for those dates if you haven’t already and quickly apply to sits that interest you - popular sits (especially in a location like LA!) can get 5 applicants very quickly. You are also looking for very specific dates of a 5 day window only, which really slims your pool of listings - most people go away on vacation for at least a week or 2.
You could still pop that on your profile though, and it may give owners the opportunity to travel on those dates as well, if they like, though they would have to create a sit specially for those dates on the platform and then invite you. That would have to be discussed after you have already been confirmed as their sitter for the dates they currently need.

Something else to consider is that in a big city like LA and for such a short sit, owners requiring those dates might not post their listing until the last minute.
