At the moment I have a black Lab on heat. Her collar is… RED alert! Pink doesn’t seem right! By the time you can decide her colour … you’re too close to my dog! Maybe reversible coloured collars as she’s definitely green and friendly, normally!
This idea would work well if everyone followed.
My dog is so fluffy no one would see her collar!
Well intentioned but I like to pick out my dogs collars because we like them, not to signal others. Really no one should approach a dog without checking with the owners first, regardless of collar color.
Hi @Highfive
Over the years we’ve used, and had great success with the PABS® Delay Her Spay Dog Breeding-Prevention Harness

Absolutely this.
It would also be great if dog owners checked before approaching strangers with their dog. The sense of entitlement displayed by some dog owners can be gobsmacking.
It wouldn’t help people who are colour blind or visually impaired
Or kids who like to run up to cute dogs.
I agree with all these points against but I looked after a very reactive dog that looked so cute with a patch of colour over one eye.. Fortunately a mother approached and asked me if her child could stroke the dog and I could explain why not.
Would a yellow coloured collar have helped?
Always ask is my motto..
I was brought up never to approach a strange dog and I don’t understand why ALL children are not taught this.
