Confirmed sitter asked for travel reimbursement and groceries

I can also testify that who Gives A Crap toilet paper is excellent. :ok_hand:

@KittyMom4Ever Please leave a factual review about this sitter, for the sake of future homeowners!

Hi all! I don’t know how to reply all but i want to thank you all for backing me up. I got caught off guard and made a mistake, but she was so rude on top if everything. She left this morning and a lovely couple arrived today. Win/win their AC is out and i was out of a sitter. This is what i love about TH. I am going to wait to review her until i submit a report to Member Services. I took screen shots of everything. My ears are still open!

You only have 14 days from the end of the sit to submit her review. Any longer and you’ll be shut out.

@KittyMom4Ever, housesitter request for payment or expense reimbursement is prohibited. You may have dodged a bullet through early termination of housesit, as such actions at start of sit could signal other future issues.

That said, in our experience then pet parent thoughtfulness in regards providing everyday items - such as toilet rolls and cleaning products - varies to a surprising degree. Most pet parents are thoughttful, kind and appreciative. But on some housesits then we have purchased extensive household items, esp cleaning, that we would expected a reasonable pet parent to have left. We have never sought related reimbursement. Often it’s the same pet parents that have “employer” mindset. We learn and do not return.

Have your review drafted now @KittyMom4Ever so that all you need to do is add it towards the end of the 14 days if that is your intention.
Wishing you all the best in the dispute process.

Thanks for the update @KittyMom4Ever and it’s great news that you found replacement sitters so quickly .

If THS changed the sit end date you can review the sitter now . The review is blind so the sitter won’t see your review before she submits hers .

I suggest raising the member dispute asap and then you can get on with enjoying your vacation .

The dispute is straightforward, sitter asked for money which breaches the ToS

Sitters will
5.3.1. not require or demand any form of payment for carrying out a Sit”

Attach screenshots of the requests for payment.

Also attach any rude messages sent by the sitter .

That’s it .

It would be helpful for the forum to know if you called the Urgent Support Phone Line and what help , support and advice that you receive from member services.

Enjoy the rest of your vacation.

Good idea. The information is fresh now and the draft can be amended later if needed, when things have cooled down.

The review is blind; once it has been submitted, the other party will get notified that they have been reviewed and prompted to write their own review.

Congrats on dodging a bullet.

The factual review and a member dispute are the nexr steps. Your review is the only thing that will alert other home owners about the sitter’s behavior.

So you think i should review her ASAP? I am on a sit and can’t get home till Saturday. I have a new sitter there now. I’m afraid the bad sitter might do something if i give her a bad review. I don’t know. Maybe not reviewing her but getting her off TH is the safest route. Thoughts?

I will do it today! Thanks for the encouragement

That strategy would disappoint me.
Also, no guarantees that she will be removed from THS. She may get a caution only. Or nothing at all. Which would also disappoint me.

Thank you for this!:heart::joy:

It’s unlikely that TH will remove her so please do a favour to others and review her honestly when you’re back from your trip. I’ve spoken with a few home owners who have reported sitters who ask for payment and every one of those sitters is still active (and probably still telling potentially naive new home owners that payment is required).

I never asked for money from a host ever and would never. Most hosts invite me to use their leftover food that would be bad after their holidays, but that’s about it. I personally am incredibly grateful that I can stay in their home, whilst enjoying looking after their pets. I make my money online, so THS is a nice way to get around but never to ask hosts for money. That doesn’t feel right. It’s the same as if a host was to ask me to pay electricity bills. This has never happened and would be the only situation where I’d ever bring that up. Luckily, I was always very fortunate with all my hosts

Thank you for this great information. I appreciate it so much.

Everything is a matter of opinion. My opinion is that it’s terrible (and injurious ) and you end up using four times as much as good tp. :roll_of_paper:
8/12 of my sits have succumbed to the marketing of that offensively named product.

Was it definitely the bamboo one that you tried? I know that the one made from recycled paper is pretty useless, it disintegrates very easily, I didn’t like it at all. I find the bamboo one excellent.

Yes, that’s why I referenced the offensive name.

Well, sorry your experience has been so disappointing. I tried the recycled one first because of the lower price but, as I said, I found it to be a waste of money. I’m very happy with the bamboo one. It amazed me that the two products from the same company were so very different.

Hope you find some more to your liking at future sits.
