I do a lot of screening for job candidates via video. Your comment reminded me of one who turned up for his video interview in his kitchen, with a pile of dirty dishes in his sink. He did not get the job, of course.
How thoughtful!
New addition: a picture on its side (they should flip it 90 degrees), with a half dog, the left half of the dog that is…
You’ll get to see the other half of the dog if you land the sit.
- a toilet in Dubai - they like that toilet so much it’s the cover and in the photos twice
I agree. Makes me wonder how much effort they’ll make for me to feel welcome.
True! Or stock photos of a scenic area nowhere near their location. I don’t get that—so much more can be shared in a personalized photo.
Oh, no! Frightening. So glad it wasn’t an animal.
I’m just speculating but it just occurred to me that this model of toilet instead of the floor one might be considered a great amenity in Dubai.
maybe @Newpetlover , I didn’t see squat toilets in Dubai, but probably older buildings have them?
Dubai is nearly entirely newly constructed, with modern plumbing and sit toilets. Everywhere I went as a tourist, the facilities were nicer overall than in many other countries.
Wrong speculation, then.
- Two consecutive cover pictures featuring bathrooms: one with yet another toilet (lid down) the other with a washing machine (door open) between a shower and a folded drying rack.
- An open door with blurry background. You can’t actually see anything.
I received an invitation this morning with the first photo being the bathroom with the toilet being right bang in the middle. Another photo was a very untidy kitchen with a draining board full of dishes and pans.
Great, I gave them some advice while declining, They have changed the lead photo to one of the dog and hopefully will retake the kitchen photo.
A gecko.
Definitely better than a toilet cover photo, and I like geckoes, they’re cute… but is that your pet, or what…?
Uninviting beds are getting popular. Three today just in a saved search. Two of them unmade beds with duvets covering just a part and revealing a very wrinkled lower sheet.
Another uninviting cover is a picture of the front door from the inside with shoes on a shelf.
Yep, agreed. Photos of a messy house tells me everything I need to know!
If im booking an hotel room, i look at the pictures. From 2 star to 5 star they show the bed,the bathroom and any extra areas. They might ask if im booking in on a leisure or work trip. Its not important to them Why im there, but they know its important to me where i sleep and wash and cook. They know its bad business to make it look as though im going to be uncomfy.
Yes, we will be arriving at your home to care lovingly for your pet. That doesnt mean im going to send lots of money on petrol_ car park…flights …transfers just to look after your pet ive never met. There has to be the WIIFME factor in play here. For myself.my WIIFME is pleasant clean acommodation in a nice area i intend to explore and take in some sights.
So i think photos of the home are very important. And the sunset matters not one jot.
Ive never seen a sunset pic on an estate agents photos
Ha yes, one thing that puzzles me is photos of sunsets - that could be taken ANYWHERE at any time. I also don’t need to see the vase on the table, the painting on the wall or the photo of the city 20 minutes away. I can look up the city. Show where sitters will spend their time -each and every room and outdoor space they will have access to. That’s it. The house from the street (with neighbor homes so you know how close or far the nearest neighbor is helps, too) is a good idea as well. But a photo of the sky? Puzzling indeed unless it’s over the ocean taken from your balcony.
I saw one recently where the cover picture was a thermostat.
Just… the thermostat. With a bit of blank wall.
Wut
I’ve seen plenty. Real estate agents are selling “lifestyle”. “Drink wine and watch the sunset on your private deck”. In your sprawling yard full of endless possibilities.
Someone has seen far too many real estate listings
