I saw one yesterday with an armchair in the middle of the kitchen… just sitting there, infront of the cabinets & sink… Hmmm… ![]()

@ABGM given the recent threads on cold homes - I would like to know what temperature the thermostat was set to in the photo ? ![]()
Maybe a photo of the thermostat that shows the minimum temperature that the home will be during the sit should become mandatory for all listings ? ![]()

Also so many lately with titles like “Mr. & Mrs. Brown” or “Mrs. Christine Smith.”
Oh man ![]()
![]()
Do you think your sitter will address you as Mrs. Brown?? What is this, school? ![]()
![]()
I suppose it depends where you live. Not much deck sitting in Scotland unless its a lucky day
I wanna say 74. I know it wasn’t 60something. ![]()
[edit: I found it! Good photo memory, it is indeed 74. It’s in Hawaii.]
Sometimes owners complain that some sitters on the forum advise some actions to be taken by them just to find out that there’s another group of sitters asking for the opposite… Like most of us asking for clear detailed listings and then a post complaining that listings are too long to read.
Having a thermostat as a cover picture is indeed a strange choice but, showing 74 degrees in Hawaii, it might be a thoughtful choice after reading some threads in the forum, to show that they don’t expect sitters to sweat the sit out.
I am still trying to figure out the secret meaning of a little black ball on a tiled floor. Any thoughts? Playful spirits, perhaps?
That lovely unmade bed and cat sitting in the sheets from further up the thread, is back up on offer @Newpetlover
The last sit had no takers it seems….
#dodgedagain
You’ll have to DM me the link. I can’t resist unmade beds, they’re soooo appealing. Especially with the added bonus of pet hair. ![]()
@Newpetlover and @Cuttlefish
I actually LOVE to see photos of unmade beds and messy rooms.
Why?
Because it tells me everything I need to know about the home and hosts.
Give me transparency 100%! No surprises, please!!
(now if only THS would FINALY add a “NO THANKS” button so listings we know we will never apply for no longer pop up in our searches, wouldn’t that be nice??)
From that perspective, I also like messy pictures. They are certainly more informative than realtors’ ![]()
Not so much a cover picture, but one I saw the other day was a close up of a portion of wet dog food in a foil tray? Why? We don’t need to see the dog food, or if they feel we do, surely in the Welcome Guide stage only, once sit agreed.
Having said that it was a sit that I was interested enough in to actually Favourite so if they get back to me I might ask why they included that particular photo.
I have seen one today of a cat who is walking on the kitchen table, ugh, no thanks.
It’s for their privacy, may be underaged.

That’s for the lodger who’s allowed to share the kitchen!![]()
I just saw one with a cover photo that I could not figure out until I went through the rest of the pics. It was an extreme close up of the foot of a claw-foot bathtub.
How goofy. Maybe you show up to sit and become part of an interactive game. Find clues. Solve a mystery. ![]()
I have seen a couple with cats sitting on top of a toaster.. They look really cute but not very inviting.
Jings, that’s not good.
@RedLassie Ha, yeah. Not a fan of cats on kitchen counters either but this is surprisingly common.
We had one long sit where the cat food location (two cats) was literally ON the kitchen island…the only space for food prep in the kitchen! ![]()
To be fair, it is hard to keep cats off counters but to encourage it is a whole other matter!
A woman with her eyes half closed laughing on a cell phone. I guess it was supposed to be a view of the kitchen and she walked into it? ![]()
But I guess people check what’s in the picture before they choose to upload it and make it the cover.
Or perhaps some people don’t. For them it’s just a requirement they have to fulfill in order to publish their listing.
