Yes that’s exactly what I mean, so they apparantly do spot checks regardless if they dogs have been neglected by a previous sitter or not…
It can be super disruptive to have a cleaner arriving … particularly on the 4th day of a 2 week sit… and it wasn’t necessary, because the homeowner had done such a nice job cleaning up the house before we arrived, and as we all agree, that is very appreciated!
We had just gotten settled in on day four. In your own home, things have a place to go, like you don’t live out of a suitcase, and you probably have a standard desk that you can work at during the day. At a house sit, their cupboards are full of their own things, so you can’t tidy up by shoving things in cupboards like you might at home.
We had to pack up pretty much everything, and pile it on the bed so that the cleaner would have room to do the work. Only to unpack everything again, and then naturally, we still had to clean before we left.
Had I known it was going to be so complicated, we would have asked that the service be canceled or delayed, or ideally - arranged for our last day after we had left!
Here’s another:

Edited to remove link to listing
@Ksquared With regards to any sit requiring sitters to look after their AirbNB guests - you should report it to support@trustedhousesitters.com
@dancer4life Despite this being against THS rules/policies/code of conduct, there ARE listings on THS which have a similar situation.
I really do not understand how an Owner on THS can describe this exact situation in their listing (cleaner for the Airbnb units needs to enter house to do laundry), and THS allows it.
Incredible.
So I guess “anything goes” is the reality.
We are in a similar situation right now and feel a bit abused. They have asked us to fix a plumbing issue which was a really disgusting job and now 2 days later, asking us to take care of another issue. Slippery slope. We told them before we started the Sit that we did not want to help at all with the Airbnb unit.
We are halfway through a month long sit. We shall see how many more times we are asked to do something.
@Debbie-L Just an FYI that the THS platform DOES have at least one listing which describes this exact situation, where a cleaner comes into the house to do laundry for 2 Airbnb units on the property.
I really wish that THS would better vet the listings! It’s pretty ridiculous. Why have rules/policies at all?
We’re having similar challenges @PVGemini and have flagged to the next THS sitter & the HO (it’s not through THS for us) that they’ll need to adjust and change demands for contractors/Airbnb stuff/WiFi charges/vet bills etc - or it will end in tears……and it’s a long sit ![]()
Thank you @Ksquared forwarding to the Membership Services Team
Yep- getting to that email has become challenging from the app since they changed the website for contacting them to only have chat bot and I’m not going to spend time looking. THS needs to add a “report this listing” feature
Thanks Angela!
@Ksquared I have reported numerous bad actors and nothing ever happens. I wasted my time!
That’s why I quit reporting.
@PVGemini
I have seen the posts get pulled down when I report, and for the listings that are missing photos I see those removed until they add some
@Ksquared I am not talking about the Forum. When I report things to THS customer service, nothing EVER HAPPENS as a result of my reporting. Therefore, I stopped wasting my time.
Sitters beware: You are on your own!
Hi @MarieHuggins
I’ve had cleaners on a number of my sits but to be fair the HO’s have asked if it was ok with me first.
I’ve also had pool cleaners and gardeners that didn’t require access to the property I was sitting at.
I think these things need to be discussed upfront between the HO and the sitter.
@richten1 we’ve had plenty of cleaners/gardeners/pool men too but that’s not the same as having airbnb guests around or dealing with staff related to them, or even being asked to help out with them! Anything airbnb is not part of the THS deal.
Hi @Lokstar
Oh I agree totally. Definitely not part of the THS deal. The HO needs reporting to THS if they expect sitters to manage their Airbnb as well.
I recently reported a listing that stated the sitter was expected to help with the airBnb guests .
Member services took the listing down - it’s immediately back up with no mention of there being airBnb guests on site .
I wish I hadn’t reported it now as sitters who see the listing and applying will now have no idea about that there maybe Airbnb guests staying in close proximity. ![]()
Or maybe the HO got the point and has removed Airbnb duties from the sit?! Who knows! But it would be down to the prospective sitters now to make sure they are not taken advantage of IF that is not the case.
Hi @Silversitters the Membership Services Team will have contacted the Pet Parents/Owners to advise/remind them of THS COC.
