You already have 30 reviews.
The two reminders would come on top of the system reminders by email: one when the sitter wrote their review. And I think that there is another one when the 14-day-deadline approaches.

We’re not talking about me or about the number of reviews someone does or doesn’t have @pietkuip . I was correcting your use of the English word “nagging”. Some HOs need reminding. Two gentle reminders doesn’t constitute being a nag. That’s when your Mum tells you to tidy your bedroom 10 times in a single day. Now that’s being a nag. #youmissedmypoint
You cannot count on reminders. Sometimes they come, sometimes they don’t. I know I do not always get them. Lately, I didn’t even get any message letting me know that someone submitted a review.
Anyway, I decided to have a review chat during video calls with presumptive hosts from now on.
I was also worried about this as well but fortunately it did swing in our favour where I did have to prompt. On reflection, I’d do it again - I’d rather be well prepared and risk being seen as over keen or pushy, than being under prepared, in the dark & relinquishing all control to the HO.
I also think it might be a user error/mistake. When I went to review my last sit the stars were low lit on the webpage I was deadly afraid I was giving 1 or 2 instead of the intended 5. (I might add that everything else is easy to see on the screen so this was definitively a site thing.)
Hi Temba
Yes it is me with the kitten 5* in March
I haven’t had a response from the HO and it’s been 2 days.
I’m not sure if there is a time limit on being able to reply to the review and I don’t want to miss the chance of replying as it leaves the. review as all accepting. I also don’t want to get into a tit for tat so I’m thinking very carefully of what I write.
Hope all is good with you.
F
Hmmm, I see 5 stars overall and 5 stars for each category. Confused
As far as I know, there isn´t
There is already a reply … even more confused
I also see only 5 star reviews for you @fyfie Nothing bad there at all. #maybeitsbeenfixed
@fyfie This is very confusing as your last review showing is the March review. We see no poor review since then which we should where both of you have reviewed each other.
@temba
Hello again
I had a look at my profile via “find a pet sitter” and yes the last one shown is for the kitten, which is weird.
For the sit in question both sides have submitted a review so I am not sure why it doesn’t show.
I feel I still need to reply to the review whether it makes online or not to leave it empty might be construed as… doesn’t care.
It does seem strange that the review is not visible. Is it possible that the HO made a mistake and has asked THS to allow them to correct it. In which case it could be ‘in limbo’ until the correction is made. I don’t know if that’s possible but just a thought. You could also contact THS member services to ask why the review is not shown on your profile.
@LauraT
On reading the review on my dashboard I contacted the HO privately to ask him to expand on the categories to give me more insight. My communication has been read butI have had no response. If the review was a mistake I would have thought he would have replied by now.
It is nearly a week since the sit ended so its time to put it to bed and get on with life, 3 cats in the Isle of Man next week.
Then, it hasn´t been published yet.
Perhaps, due to some bug, you got to see the review prior to its publishing.
That sounds like the best approach. Even if the two star review ends up on your profile, it will soon be hidden amongst all your existing and upcoming five star reviews. And 3 lovely cats on the Isle of Man sounds like a great way to move on from this disappointment - enjoy!
Is your review showing on the HO’s listing @fyfie?
@fyfie Around 40 top notch reviews and 1 rogue poor review:- I think the majority of home-owners will be able to read between the lines here. So too will experienced sitters potentially interested in any future sit offered by the HO.
I, like many, carry out my due diligence before applying for/accepting any sit. I will always check a HO’s feedback about previous sitters - and if the comments/rating appear unreasonable, I will not go forward with that sit.
Also, please do respond to the HO’s review of you.
Both reviews are now showing
@fyfie oh no I’m really sorry it seems quite cruel and I guess from your review to them it’s left you totally blindsided. I can’t really see what could possibly have been so bad on the sit?
Thankfully you have one bad review against 38 others.
Take some time to cool down from this hurtful experience and then on you compose a reply with the help from the forum here.
@fyfie I just saw your reviews both ways and I can well imagine your shock at receiving that review. Ouch! You should definitely respond to it- in a calm way- so that your side is heard too. There is no time limit on responding so take your time to get it right. That host has only 3 previous sitters and you have 35 great reviews before theirs and you gave them a great review too. So I think future readers who take the time to cross reference will think it suspicious.
However its very mean and unfair of them not to have communicated to you privately before writing such a negative review that will sit permanently on your profile…
Fortunately the more great reviews you accumulate the further down the list it will go. But its important you respond too and have your say.
Onwards and upwards!
So @fyfie , the good news is that you are still an overall 5 star sitter because this review didn’t drag down your rating.
I think that HOs who give a poor review but then don’t reply to the sitter’s request to discuss are childish. I can’t say much about their reference to the shower. I assume they mean the showerhead as I doubt you pulled their shower from the wall!!
Things to consider including in your response
-that you reached out to the HO to talk after you saw their review but they have not responded
(shows you are more mature IMHO)
-confirming that their cat has a shy/nervous nature as mentioned by both of their 2 previous sitters
(shows that the cat’s nervousness was a preexisting condition and you aren’t really responsible for that)
-that you hope that they will continue to engage with THS because it is a wonderful way for pets to remain comfortable in their own homes while their owners are away
(again shows you as more mature and positive not defensive)
