Deeply Gutted at 2 star review

Out of interest, how did you review these owners @GAThrawn ?

Very positive, I saw.

I think it would have been good to mention that they had returned early, for example.

If THS does not act, @GAThrawn should craft a good response to that bad review. There is no time limit for that, so there is no hurry. And then it should not hurt his chances too much, I think.

Not only did they return early, they sent me a text at 615 PM letting me know they’d be back around 8. Talk about short notice, and again, their review said they asked me to leave early in the day. But I’m generally a nice enough person and give good reviews even when things anger me. I had thought of being more open about my experiences but didn’t want to push my luck and end up being forced to pay for the repairs. But their house was a mess to the point where anything I could have done would be an improvement, his wife had worse manners than a rock and was completely faking her nice personality, no welcome guide, no veterinary information. When they got home they did not inspect the dogs or the chicken area even though I asksd if they wanted to go over anything before I left and made no effort to even show love to the dogs after being away for a weekend.

And now I’m curious to read future reviews of sitters they hire. They can’t keep playing the same old song and dance, people will catch on.

To respond to the other comments about contacting THS in regards to defamation, I tried and sent them the full chat log and the agent said they can’t delete reviews

Maybe when you write the response @GAThrawn you make it super factual along the lines of “As an experienced sitter with excellent reviews helping out a brand new HO with no reviews, here are the facts: No welcome guide. No emergency contact. No warning of early return. No vet info. Insufficient info on bird care. Untruths in review. Etc etc and end with “I kindly gave them the benefit of the doubt that they didn’t understand the platform. Future sitters beware.” Or similar. Says it all with zero emotion (& THS won’t help) #thetruthhurts

@GAThrawn Unfortunately you can’t now give the poor review they deserved as you’ve already given your review but if you write an excellent response to theirs-as suggested by @cuttlefish -any future sitter who does a bit of cross referencing might well read it and save themselves a horror sit. But more importantly you will protect your own reputation for future sits.

Where can I find that information?

Well, this is interesting … it appears that the HO involved in the original post is no longer a member. At least nothing happens when I tap on their picture in the app. Can someone else please give it a go? Cheers

Yes, it’s the same on the site.

@MaggieUU I noticed it too.

It is a learning curve! If you inquire, and it can’t be changed… try and let it go. Time will go on, and it will sting much less. ( in another gig job I do, the company will take off 1* reviews, if they are not meritted, however I think the mid range ones, they leave, at least this gives you the idea that there could be a policy, so you can ask, if you want ) It is most likely the owner, they do vary a lot. Keep your self focused on more fun and engaging things, and you will forget about it!!!

@MaggieUU I can still see their listing, it shows they are ‘reviewing’.

@Happypets and I determined that she was referring to a different HO.

So sorry for that experience you had. It sounds terribke in so many ways. Its always a fear of mine that I will break something by no fault of mine and be blamed. Some owners are really not careful leaving fragile and sometimes expensive items in the way without warming. Or even dangerous situations like yours. As a home owner you have to put yourself in the place of someone experiencing your home fior the first time. It is absolutely not ok to put people at risk.

Why is it out of 40 reviews you let 1 bad one sour you? 40 other great ones!!! I know it’s not easy but perhaps you missed a few steps this time around and perhaps the people are just too hard to please. It’s bound to happen. But, hopefully they will give you some feedback and you also can leave your a review in your defense.
When I read reviews before sits I read both sides. I know it’s not easy but keep in mind how well you have done with others and if you recognize that you did make some mis steps or slacked a bit, just own up to it. I hope this helps

i think thje system can be comfusing. At one time you clicked five stars to give a five star review. when I last did a review to give five starts I had to just click on the fifth star. I clicked on the first one to start with and then discovered I could not click on the second and so on. I coulds not find a way to remove the first star. In the end I had to come completely out and start from scratch and then click the fifth star in order to give five stars. It would be so easy for someboidy to click on any one of the stars thinking they can continue with clicking all of them, and then be stumped if unable to do so and just give up. I don’t know if the same with the app, as I only do on a laptop.
