My host drove me to Heathrow from South London due to uncertainty of rail system and to quote “no need to schlep your bags”.
An Uber would have been £70.
Traffic was very slow due to congestion, a bit delayed ver an hour.
At the airport, it is extremely busy, baggage drop off had a queue of about 30 minutes. Security was a bit more than 90 minutes.
One clear baggie per person for liquids and such. Please don’t be the rude American who over stuffs it so that it doesn’t seal then hold up the queue asking for “understanding” in an angry tone when asked to either remove or rearrange items in order to seal the bag.

Wow that so cool they drove you to Heathrow. I landed back there last night. Had to wait 30 minutes for a stand to deboard.
Yes maybe people have forgotten how to travel but when I left via Heathrow on a 7am flight security were going mad with people for forgetting to remove liquids and laptops from their bags when getting scanned. Telling people if they did so then a manual search was needed and there was a 45 minute wait for that!
